**Purpose**
The **Volunteer Coordinator** is responsible for managing and supporting all volunteer efforts across Arts on the Ave’s programs and festivals. This includes recruitment, training, scheduling, and appreciation, with a focus on fostering positive relationships and ensuring volunteers feel connected and valued. This position also supports our operational team during events and throughout the year.
This is a **part-time contract position** (up to 25 hours per week), with flexibility required during peak periods such as our major festivals. Some evenings and weekends will be necessary.

**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide holistic support for volunteer needs across **The Carrot**, special events, and major festivals (Kaleido and Deep Freeze).
- Recruit, orient, train, schedule, and retain volunteers year-round.
- Build strong relationships with volunteers—offering guidance, appreciation, and recognition.
- Track volunteer hours, engagement, and needs using our Better Impact platform (training provided).
- Coordinate monthly Carrot Committee volunteer-related updates.
- Participate in team planning meetings and help strengthen overall community engagement.
- Maintain volunteer records and support event planning with appropriate volunteer deployment.
- Have access to a reliable vehicle and valid driver’s license.
- Other duties as required in relation to volunteer coordination and team support.
**What You Bring to the Team**
- Minimum **2 years’ experience** in volunteer coordination, community development, or related fields.
- Diploma or training in volunteer management, community development, human services, arts admin—or equivalent lived experience.
- Strong interpersonal skills and a genuine desire to uplift others through mentorship and support.
- Experience working with inner-city communities and Indigenous peoples is a strong asset.
- Confidence working independently while staying accountable to team objectives.
- Strong organizational and time management skills; able to juggle tasks with shifting priorities.
- Competent with **Google Suite**, **Microsoft Office**, and comfortable learning new systems.
- Experience with **Better Impact**, **Basecamp**, or Adobe is a bonus (training can be provided).

**Job Types**: Part-time, Permanent
Pay: $15.99-$20.00 per hour
Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
