PAGC COMMUNITY ALCOHOL SUPPORT COORDINATOR

The contractor will dual-report to Prince Albert Grand Council’s Director of Operations and the Director of the Northern Alcohol Strategy, Community Safety and Well-Being Branch, Integrated Justice Services during the contract period. This position will provide support directly to Prince Albert Grand Council (PAGC) communities by overseeing regional efforts to reduce alcohol harms and find collaborative opportunities to increase community safety and well-being.

The Coordinator will:

- Assist with the organization and implementation of events delivered on behalf of PAGC/NAS (training, engagement sessions, etc.).
- Assist with facilitating communication between stakeholders.
- Perform duties related to the administration/coordination of PAGC communities’ alcohol management plans such as budgeting, creating, and distributing meeting agendas and minutes, chairing meetings, and other administrative duties as required by PAGC/NAS.
- Lead community engagement efforts for PAGC (surveys, etc.).
- Promote PAGC communities’ alcohol management plans to other organizations, leadership, and the public through presentations, communications, and frequent activity on social media.
- Follow-up on action items identified by PAGC/NAS (research, coordinating community initiatives, connecting stakeholders, etc.).
- Report on initiatives undertaken with respect to PAGC communities’ alcohol plans.
- Work alongside SGI’s Traffic Safety Coordinators to ensure collaboration when appropriate.
- Ensure community plans are constructed and implemented with an achievable action plan framework that is grassroots informed.
- Identify and measure evaluation of community outcomes through available data.
- Analysis of issues that have impact across various sectors.
- Analysis of the impact of legislation and leadership in implementation of community plans.
- Promote innovative approaches to addressing underlying social issues by effectively bridging and utilizing existing resources whenever possible to maximize community outcomes.
- Identify areas to expand the strategy to address broader community-led safety and well-being planning as identified by the community and other stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Counselling Experience, Supporting Education in the Field of Addictions ability to obtain liability insurance is a requirement of the position.
- Ability to work in a non-judgemental & anti-discriminatory way and keep professional boundaries
- Fluency in English a requirement. Fluent in a First Nation language with the Prince Albert Grand Council area an asset
- Certificate in St. John’s First Aid/CPR is a requirement
- Possess a good working knowledge of First Nations culture, values, language, spirituality and community life on the reserves
