**AREA OVERVIEW**
The Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA) is the provincial professional organization that represents the interests of 10 regional real estate boards/associations and more than 15,000 REALTORS® provincewide. Based in Calgary, the association’s mission is to provide strategic leadership through AREA’s member-centric services, advocacy and professional development.
**SCOPE**
The Professional Development Advisor, Industry Content Specialist (PD Advisor) will provide specialized support to professional development and licensing education programs offered at AREA. The role emphasizes industry expertise to ensure course materials and learning opportunities reflect current real estate practices and trends. The PD Advisor will work closely with internal teams and external stakeholders to create and maintain industry-leading educational content.
**NOTE: This is a 1-year fixed term contract.**
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Incorporate in-depth knowledge of condominium-related industry practices into course offerings, providing expertise on complex practice scenarios.
- Create engaging and practical content for online and in-person courses, including scenario-based learning, compliance, and professional standards.
- Innovate and propose value-added educational materials to differentiate AREA courses in the Alberta real estate market.
- Conduct needs assessments and regular content reviews to measure results and ensure courses remain accurate and reflective of best practices in Alberta real estate.
- Work with AREA’s LMS platform, ensuring course updates and learner engagement initiatives are executed effectively.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions with the Professional Development team to generate new course ideas and enhance offerings.
- Provide support to AREA members and learners, answering industry-related questions and ensuring exceptional customer service.
- Take initiative in projects, bringing tasks from ideation to implementation with mínimal supervision.
- Maintain updated curriculum database and training records.
- Other tasks as assigned.
**RELATIONSHIPS**
The PD Advisor must establish and foster relationships with:
- Learners, Licensed REALTORS® and Brokers across Alberta
- Member Boards/Associations and AREA Professional Development Committee
**KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS**
- Creativity and an innovative mindset to bring fresh ideas to course design and learner engagement.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with attention to accuracy and professionalism.
- Excellent project management skills, capable of handling multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Diplomacy, conflict resolution, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to exercise good judgment and decision making skills.
- Ability to build and maintain effective and appropriate relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Degree or diploma in Adult Education.
- _Equivalent industry-related expertise will be considered._
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Alberta’s real estate industry
- Experience with content creation, curriculum design, and/or adult learning environments.
- Strong knowledge of Alberta’s real estate practices, with licensure in Residential.
- Expertise in the condominium sector, including legislation and common practice challenges.
- Familiarity with eLearning platforms, like Articulate or other course development tools.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and video conferencing software (e.g., Teams, Demio, etc.)
- Considered Assets:_

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
- This is an in-office position (not eligible for the hybrid program).
- Due to the nature of this fixed-term position, group benefits are not offered.
