BEST is a small nonprofit working on big issues. As such, we all help each other out and collaborate to ensure we deliver the most value for our partners and work towards our organizational goals. This role will offer a range of projects and programs for the successful applicant to work on and gain an array of experience and make valuable contributions.

About TransLink: Metro Vancouver’s Regional Transportation Strategy commits the region to designing our communities and transportation system in such away that half of all trips can be made through walking, cycling, and transit. As part of this commitment, TransLink’s mandate includes support for active transportation infrastructure, facilities and programs. While TransLink continues to grow its portfolio of walking and cycling initiatives, the support for managing and promoting these projects must also increase to promote long-term mode shift.

BEST has been partnering with TransLink since its inception, and is our largest stakeholder. This contract will help BEST and TransLink achieve organizational goals and missions, as well as strengthen our relationship.

Job Summary: This position is overseen by BEST and TransLink, to help coordinate the cycling facility and program operations, as well as behaviour change initiatives/Transportation Demand Management (TDM) activities. This contract requires the Coordinator to be available to provide approximately four days per week, or a maximum of 30 hours, throughout the week from Monday to Friday. The Coordinator will report to both the managers at TransLink as well as the Executive Director of Better Environmentally Sound Transportation.

Start date: As soon as possible.

BEST has a physical office in Chinatown providing the option to work on site, from home, or a combination. This includes when working as a TransLink contractor.

**Job Duties**:
Bike Facilities Operation:

- Responding to customer questions and complaints about bicycle facilities
- Coordinating the maintenance and repair of bicycle facilities, including providing direction to internal teams and contractors as required
- Review, source, analyze, and organize data reports on usage of bicycle facilities
- Conduct site visits and/or support data collection related to bicycle facilities, as required

Transportation Demand Management (TDM):

- Support TransLink’s TDM team to execute and coordinate partner campaigns, events and programs.
- Develop resources and support events that promote active transportation infrastructure and Bike to Transit/Bike Parking campaigns.
- Attend various events/working groups to promote TransLink’s bike programs and parking options, provide general walking & cycling information to the public.
- Assist TransLink marketing by creating content and ensuring active transportation website content and resources are up to date.
- Collaborate with municipalities and external partners and organizations to share, provide, and create informational and promotional resources relating to active transportation (infrastructure, bike parking, bike to transit, and trip planning)
- Provide information and promotional resources relating to micro-mobility programs.
- Assist with maintenance, coordination and operations of BEST agreement (Bike Valet events), as required.

Meetings and Reporting:

- Attend meetings and prepare reports as requested by TransLink
- Facilitate monthly team meetings by preparing meeting agenda and notes
- Assist team to prepare agenda for Active Transportation working groups and take notes
- Other duties as required

BEST’s Programs and Initiatives:

- Help BEST team members as needed/time allows, including communications, graphics, technology needs, office organization, event planning and coordination, providing event support
- Reporting on a weekly basis and present written reports to TransLink as requested.

**Qualifications**:

- Passionate about cycling, active and public transportation; and share our values as an organization
- Background in Transportation, Urban Planning, Geography, Engineering, Marketing or other similar fields
- Excellent written and verbal English skills
- Strong administrative, organizational, communications, and data analysis skills
- Familiar with different types of bicycle parking facilities and sustainable transportation modes
- Good problem solver, collaborator and team player
- Able to manage maintenance contractors and invoices
- Comfortable with liaising and communicating with a number of different stakeholders
