We are hiring a Permanent full-time Manager, Geospatial Analytics working out of the EPCOR Tower located in downtown Edmonton, AB.
In the Manager, Geospatial Analytics role you are accountable for strategic and operational leadership as the geospatial technology lead within EPCOR Water Services (EWS). You will provide input to the development of the situational awareness roadmap and participate in its implementation. You provide support to teams across EWS to support advanced use of GIS tools, mapping and geospatial data analysis. You will demonstrate value and gain support by delivering exceptional geospatial based visualization and analytics products and solutions to implement the EWS situational awareness roadmap. As the Manager, Geospatial Analytics you will be working collaboratively to provide tools & services to support efficient, comprehensive business decisions through the use of location intelligence. You are also responsible for providing technical support for data modeling, including reliable, accurate design data and the Geospatial Analytics team works closely with team members across Situational Awareness and EWS to ensure data consistency throughout EWS.
What you’d be responsible for
The Manager, Geospatial Analytics is accountable to the Senior Manager, Situational Awareness, and operates within the context and prescribed limits established by the Senior Manager. Key accountabilities include, but are not limited to:
- **_
Strategic Planning_** - Understanding of departmental strategic plans ensuring alignment of geospatial products and services. Developing the Geospatial Analytics plan in alignment with the Situational Awareness Roadmap, developing & implementing goals.
- **_Team Performance & Succession_** - Ensuring deliverables of direct report positions are aligned and integrated appropriately (1 day - 3 months), including performance metrics. Managing and maintaining a strong technical team with an optimal number of resources. Conducting recruitment, ensuring retention and providing development opportunities where possible. Building solid succession and cross training plans.
- **_ Finance_** - Developing and maintaining the Geospatial Analytics annual budget. Completing monthly variance reporting and identifying reasons when there are variances.
- **_ Product Delivery_** - The Geospatial Analytics team will deliver optimal results against appropriate performance metrics. Analyzing and identifying issues impacting operational performance and providing input to establish initiatives for continuous improvement to ensure financial success, customer satisfaction, and employee satisfaction.
- **_ Continuous Improvement_** - Encouraging, supporting, developing and leading continuous improvement initiatives for EWS to reduce waste and increase quality and efficiency. Working closely with Operational Excellence to stay informed of CI initiatives where location intelligence could be of assistance.
- **_ Document Management_** - Developing and maintaining an accessible, up to date, Geospatial Analytics document library to hold data governance standards, geospatial catalog information, technical training guides and procedures. Ensuring this library is reviewed and kept up to date. Ensuring all process documents are published in the Operational Excellence Process Map Library.
- **_ Accountability_** **- Fostering a high performance, professional, focused, reliable, achievement-oriented, collaborative team.
- **_ Safety_** **- Creating a culture** **of safe work practices. Sharing learnings from applicable ERSs with the GIS and System Operations teams to drive learning and understanding of the impact of errors.
- **_ Collaboration_** **- Collaborating with various teams throughout EWS to ensure understanding of upcoming projects. Communicating frequently with stakeholders within EWS to ensure their needs are met.
What’s required to be successful
Qualifications, experience and behaviours you will possess are:
- Completion of a degree in GIS or related area with a diploma in Technology from a recognized post-secondary institution.
- Experience that includes:
- 8+ years managing technical employees.
- 5+ years in project management.
- Managing in hybrid work environments.
- Change management &/or project management certification/experience.
- Creating and managing a multi-year budget. Experience developing business cases with return on investment valuation.
- Understanding of:
- EPCOR processes and policies
- drafting and GIS principles
- Strong knowledge of database design, data management, data manipulation and data analysis strategies.
- Familiar with Union collective agreements.
- Proven capability creating and delivering presentations to senior leadership.
- Proven document management experience with ProjectWise & SharePoint.
- Proficiency using virtual meeting software and leading virtual meetings.
- Knowledge of PI, Geofit and water/wastewater system design.
