The Office of Statistics and Information (OSI) is Alberta's statistical resource and the Statistical Focal Point for Statistics Canada. Our mandate is to plan, promote, consolidate and develop social and economic statistics relating to Alberta. **Role Responsibilities**:

You’ll be part of a dynamic team that supports evidence-informed policy, planning, and service delivery across the government.

This is a great opportunity for a technically skilled and curious GIS professional to grow in a collaborative and forward-thinking environment—while supporting the modernization of digital government.

**The key responsibilities for this role include**:

- Conduct geospatial analysis and mapping, including data cleaning, geocoding, spatial joins, and visualization.
- Develop and maintain spatial datasets—such as census boundaries, administrative zones, and service areas—with proper documentation and version control.
- Create and support mapping tools, including ArcGIS Pro maps, interactive web maps, and dashboards aligned with accessibility standards.
- Troubleshoot mapping workflows, provide technical support, and escalate issues as needed.
- Respond to data and mapping requests, collaborating with OSI and GoA ministry clients to clarify requirements and deliver solutions.
- Participate in professional development—training, communities of practice—and share geospatial best practices within the team.
- Provide data warehouse and analytics support, including ETL workflows, pipeline monitoring, query creation, and documentation.

**Qualifications**:
**Requirement**:

- At least two-year technical diploma in GIS, Geography, Geomatics, or a related field plus four years related experience.
- Experience with geospatial analysis - including exploratory or descriptive analysis using spatial data.
- Proficiency in geospatial software such as ArcGIS Desktop, FME and ArcPro, ArcGIS Online and Portal for ArcGIS.
- Experience with spatial processes (geocoding, joins, projections) and data maintenance.
- Demonstrated expertise in spatial databases, metadata governance, and compliance with geospatial data standards.

Equivalencies will be considered based on one-year experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.

**Assets**:

- Experience with Statistics Canada geographies.
- Ability to build web maps and/or dashboards (e.g., via StoryMaps or ArcGIS Dashboard).
- Knowledge or experience in using scripting languages like Python or R.
- Knowledge of accessible mapping and open data publication practices.
