Accounting Assistant

The position is responsible for managing all aspects of the financial activities of the business including delegating specific accountability to the appropriate personnel and managing their activities.
The business uses QuickBooks for managing all transactions, inventory, sales and accounting.
The position reports to CFO and will require working in the office
The key responsibilities of the job are:
- Manage monthly financials including bank reconciliation, HST returns, month close and analysis of monthly results.
- Manage annual year-end review with external accountant including tax returns and other reporting.
- Perform various accounting function including monthly journal entries, month end reconciliations, month end close, adjusting entries and financial statement preparation.
- Manage regular foreign exchange transactions.
- Manage annual contracts with suppliers.
- Corporate documentation and reporting as required for a small business.
- Payroll Accounting.
**Education**:
- Post-Secondary Degree in Accounting or Finance
- Preferably with Professional Accounting Designation.
**Skills and Knowledge**:
**ACCOUNTING SKILLS**
- Knowledge of principles of Accounting and Taxation
- Profound ability to maintain a set of accounting records, journalize and post entries to general ledger, produce bank reconciliation statements, Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
- Preparing trial balance and financial statements including income statements and statements of retained earnings and Balance Sheets
- Ability to manage financial records, maintain accounts manually and electronically
- Substantial skills with financial software (preferably in Quickbooks)
**PAYROLL SKILLS**
- Knowledge of Employment Standard Act.
- Ability to handle payroll for hourly and salaried employees
- Profound ability to collect employee information and maintained confidentiality of all files
- Ability to manage the inquires received from Clients, Employee and Government
- Prepare the payroll related reports at year end.
Other Skills
- At least 2 years managing responsibility for monthly and annual financial reporting.
- At Least 2 years working in a manufacturing environment.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English
- Excellent computer skills including Excel and Word;
- Self-starter with initiative to develop and/or improve processes.
- Inventory experience an asset.
- Interpersonal and teamwork skills.

Wages: $ 21-23 per hour
