This position is responsible for ensuring the timely distribution of product through the effective and efficient dispatch of drivers and equipment. Work is performed in-line with accepted procedures, rules, regulations and laws governing truck/transport driving (federal, provincial and USA). The incumbent(s) act as the primary contact for drivers.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Dispatch:

- Ensure the timely dispatch of drivers.
- Develop annual route network and route optimization.
- Know the location of all your drivers' in order to flag potential issues.
- Ensure compliance with all Provincial & Federal transportation regulations as well as USA
- Monitor any sudden work or order schedule changes or road construction issues along with weather conditions and work with drivers to establish new re-routes for timely delivery.
- Advise appropriate colleagues and (Customers / clients) of any delays caused by traffic problems such as construction areas, accidents, congestion, weather conditions, and other hazards.
- Act as a communication liaison via phones or satellite messaging to and from drivers on the road.
- Cultivate strong relationships with drivers, colleagues and customers to reduce the stress that comes with last minute schedule changes.
- Contribute to the overall team approach to consistently work together to meet customer needs, requirements, specifications and expectations.
- Collaborate with various colleagues to modify daily assignments in order to accommodate the needs of customers.
- Manage the timely dispatch of special runs, straights and pick-ups when and as required.
- Communicate with all departments, including the Quebec office and Brampton plant regarding estimated delivery times, respond to and follow-up on a variety of distribution related issues.
- Keep the Fleet Manager abreast of developing situations that may require his attention and elevate issues at the earliest opportunity to ensure and timely action or resolution.
- Provide production/loading personnel with the specifications of equipment required for loading runs as per schedule.
- Coordinate return loads, transfers from Brampton (Wakefield bridge and decking) when the load isn’t big enough to ensure cost effective use of resources.
- Controls and authorizes delays when justified and in accordance with the Collective Agreement, communicate with inside sales who will then contact client.
- Communicates with production to confirm timeliness of orders, loading completion and estimated delays and adjusts the driver schedule accordingly. Identifies additional brokerage that may be needed when excess runs are unavoidable and contact Fleet Manager to arrange.
- Coordinates with Purchasing for the pick-up of material.
- Perform Other related duties

**REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS**:

- 1-3 years transportation/logistics experience with at least 1 year in a unionized environment supervising or leading unionized employees.
- Strong knowledge of Canadian and US trucking, transportation and driving laws, rules and regulations.
- Familiarity with US and Canadian Customs
- Ability to communicate clearly in French and English both spoken and written
- Customer service skills
- Ability to work in a team environment
- Knowledge of GPS systems and geography
- Multitasking skills
- Ability to resolve conflict and solve problems
- Knowledge of basic computer programs and aptitude to learn new software systems
