**Pay rate**: Commensurate with experience
**Hours**: 4 hours/week, Wednesdays 6-8pm and Sundays 4-6pm. Opportunities for more hours in other roles are available if interested.

**About**:ARC is seeking a motivational Youth Team Coach to join our team. This position centres on the development of young climbers. You will create a welcoming and supportive environment where climbers can develop their strengths and discover a lifelong passion for the sport**.**
Working at ARC requires a positive attitude, great work ethic, flexibility, teamwork, and a commitment to making ARC the most enjoyable experience for our members, guests, and the rest of the team. At ARC we aim to provide a fun, safe, and challenging environment where people can discover their strengths, continually redefine their boundaries, and conquer their fears.
**What you’ll do**:
- Coach climbing movement, techniques and fitness to the JR Youth Teams (kids ages ~11-14)
- Collaborate with the SR Youth Team Coach (kids ages ~13-17)
- Teach belaying (top rope, and potentially lead)
- Design and coach two practices per week (Wednesday 6-8pm and Sundays 4-6pm; excluding weekends near holidays)
- Sessions include warm-ups, technique drills, bouldering, ropes climbing, climbing-based training, and use of strength training equipment
- Mentor young enthusiastic climbers
- Communicate with parents
- Prepare climbers for competitions
- Potential to join them at competitions (at ARC and other competitions in the province)
**What you’ll bring**:
- A passionate interest in rock climbing,
- Knowledge of a variety of climbing movements and styles
- Experience working with kids
- Availability for (minimum) Wednesdays 6-8pm and Sunday 4-6pm.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build rapport with members, parents, and staff
- Commitment to working in a socially inclusive environment
- Time management skills with the ability to plan, organize and deliver programming goals
- A strong desire to learn and improve
- Background in athletics and exercise
**Bonus points if you**:
- Are bilingual
- Have competition climbing experience
- Post
- Secondary Education in sports, physiology or exercises science
- Have previous coaching experience in any sport
- Have teaching experience
- Hold any Industry certifications in the field of climbing (ACMG CGI 1 or equivalent)
