As a** Behaviour Support Worker **at our **Adult Services** program in Surrey, **you will have the opportunity to be a part of a team that provides support, care, and mentorship to adults with ASD and special needs in a therapeutic home setting. The line is 40 hours/week and the shift times are as follows:
7:00 am to 3:00 pm - Monday to Friday
**Qualifications**:
- Post-secondary education in related field and/or equivalent experience working with youth with ASD and other special needs
- Minimum one year of experience working with children/youth with ASD and other behavioural challenges
- Must be comfortable assisting clients with hygiene support
- Clear and concise written and verbal communication
- Effective de-escalation and crisis management skills
- Ability to follow behavioural support plans
- BC Class 5 Driver's License an asset
- Ability to pass a Criminal Record Check and Ministry of Children and Family Development consolidated check (takes up to 6 weeks to process so please plan accordingly)
- Proof of COVID-19 double vaccination record or exemption from the provincial health authority
**A sample of what you’ll be doing**:
- Maintaining a safe and healthy environment in the home
- Building positive working relationships with the client, family, community members, and other professionals involved in the care team
- Encouraging and modeling acceptable social standards and setting appropriate boundaries
- Engaging in frequent interaction with clients, using appropriate means of communication
- Facilitating recreational and/or educational activities
- Driving clients to and from school, appointments, outings as needed
- Attending school meetings and case conferences when required
- Performing household maintenance duties, preparing meals, administering medication, and assisting clients with personal care as needed
- Collaborating with the clinical team and providing input into assessments and care plans
**Salary**: $22.70-$24.00/hour plus benefits
