Overview:
Are you passionate about ensuring compliance and quality standards on the job site? As a Concrete Testing / Field Technician, you will play a vital role in supporting quality assurance and control operations in our Pre-Cast Yard. You will leverage your keen observations and meticulous tracking to conduct on-site testing, monitor product quality during production and perform field inspections to ensure all products meet industry standards, client requirements and safety regulations.

What you will be doing:

- Perform on-site and field concrete testing, including slump, air content, temperature, unit weight, and casting of test cylinders, in accordance with ASTM and CSA standards.
- Conduct compressive strength tests on concrete samples and record results accurately.
- Inspect pre-cast concrete components for structural and dimensional compliance during and after production.
- Document and report all test results and non-conformances to supervisors and QA teams.
- Ensure all testing equipment is cleaned, calibrated, and functioning properly.
- Monitor concrete batching, pouring, curing, and handling to ensure compliance with mix designs and specifications.
- Assist with field inspections and quality audits as needed.
- Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues or inconsistencies.
- Follow all safety procedures and use proper PPE while working in the yard or field.
- Attend Concrete Testing Laboratory Training Sessions: Participate in training sessions provided by the Concrete Testing Supervisor (CTS) to gain a solid understanding of standardized procedures related to concrete testing, aggregate testing, and other laboratory activities. This includes learning proper sample handling, equipment uses, and safety protocols in accordance with CSA standards.
- Assist with Laboratory Work: Provide support to lab technicians as needed. This may include tasks such as preparing and curing test specimens, performing basic measurements, maintaining cleanliness of the lab environment, and assisting with routine test procedures

What we are looking for:

- High school diploma required; post-secondary education in Civil/Construction/Materials Technology is preferred.
- 1-3 years of experience in concrete testing or quality control in a pre-cast or construction field environment.
- Familiarity with CSA, ASTM, and ACI standards.
- Certification in ACI Concrete Field-Testing Grade I is an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with excellent documentation and communication skills.
- Physically able to lift and transport concrete samples and testing equipment.
- Comfortable working in an outdoor, production-driven environment.
- Valid driver’s license may be required depending on site and field duties.
- May require early morning starts, overtime, or weekend work based on production schedules.
