**Position is based in Nanaimo, BC**
**ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Thoroughly review project proposals and specifications to develop a clear understanding of scope and client expectations.
- Attend and actively participate in pre-bid meetings with clients to gather critical project insights and foster positive client relationships.
- Conduct accurate and detailed quantity take-offs from drawings to determine material and labor requirements.
- Identify and assess site-specific support needs, including logistics, access, and temporary facilities.
- Develop methodologies tailored to various installation types, ensuring alignment with project requirements and safety standards.
- Create preliminary construction schedules.
- Prepare and issue comprehensive bid packages to subcontractors.
- Evaluate subcontractor proposals to ensure alignment with project scope, budget, and timelines.
- Generate and distribute RFQ packages for materials.
- Collaborate to complete RFP for submittal to clients.
- Prepare and price change orders in response to scope modifications of ongoing projects
- Research and source non-standard or specialized materials and equipment required for specific RFP’s
- Perform additional job-related duties as assigned to support the estimating team and contribute to overall project success
**EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND CREDENTIALS**
- Bachelor’s Degree or Diploma in Construction Management, Civil, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering/Technology or equivalent industry experience.
- Minimum of 3-5 years of Construction Estimating experience, preference in the Electrical, and/or Mechanical fields.
- Strong organizational and planning skills: Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and work under pressure.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills internal/external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of construction methods and techniques: Understanding of different construction processes and materials.
- Ability to represent the company in a professional manner, with focus on maintaining solid relationships with Clients, Subcontractors and internal team members.
- Critical thinking, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and a solution-oriented mindset.
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook is required.
- Valid Driver’s License.
- Willing to travel to job sites as required.
