** Responsibilities**:

- PRIMARY PURPOSE
- Leads the development and execution of TransLink’s communications strategies, plans, and priorities. Leads and manages TransLink’s external and internal communications in support of TransLink’s operations, initiatives and projects. Provides senior leadership and expert advice to TransLink executives and senior management on communications related to issues and opportunities. Leads the Communications team at TransLink.
- KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Provides oversight and leads TransLink’s media relations, issues management, corporate and executive communications, internal communications, communications for capital projects, and social media.
- Develops and implements the communications strategy for the TransLink Enterprise to ensure alignment to the Organization’s mission, vision, and values. Manages reputation and delivers effective responses on high-profile, sensitive and time-constrained matters with potential impact on public confidence. Develops short
- and long-term communication plans in support of corporate objectives, day-to-day operational issues, and high-profile projects and initiatives.
- Directs development and execution of TransLink’s corporate messaging to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Leads and manages TransLink crisis communications. Provides strategic counsel to the VP, the CEO and TransLink Enterprise executives on strategic communications related to issues and crises.
- Acts as key point of contact with communications counterparts at the Province of BC, municipal governments, and public agencies in the Metro Vancouver region as well as capital projects related to TransLink.
- Develops and implements social media strategies using a variety of platforms, channels, and technology to ensure TransLink’s messaging is reaching key audiences.
- Manages relationships with leaders across the TransLink Enterprise to ensure alignment to the overarching communications strategy, and to support objectives for Enterprise-wide culture.
- Monitors trends, develops insights, and assesses risks in media and public attitudes toward TransLink to inform risk management and reputational strategies. Develops reports at regular intervals to keep the VP apprised of the status of planning initiatives, and to alert the VP to critical issues as they emerge. Participates with the VP in delivery of presentations at the executive level.
- Provides the full scope of management and leadership to the Communications team at TransLink, including workforce planning, hiring, development, and performance management. Manages relationships with contractors and consultants.
- Serves as member of the Customer Communications and Public Affairs leadership team. Acts as delegate for the VP as needed. Collaborates with other Directors in the division to ensure alignment and coordination of strategies and implementation.

** Qualifications**:

- EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- The requirements for this job are acquired through an undergraduate degree in communications or other related discipline, and 10 years of leadership experience in communications and public, media, and community relations at progressive levels of accountability.
- OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Expert knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of communications, including issues management, crisis communications, media relations, public relations, employee and internal communications, and social media
- Expert in communications strategy, planning and delivery encompassing integrated communications campaigns, including crisis management plans.
- Proven ability to respond and lead the Communications team with a high level of professionalism during urgent and emergent situations on short notice.
- A strong track record in developing messages for a variety of audiences; telling the organization’s story through visual and online platforms; developing and implementing effective social media strategy and tactics.
- Advanced interpersonal and communication skills, including relationship
