**Required Abilities, Qualifications and Experience**:
- Extensive academic training, professional preparation, and qualifications in teaching in all areas of this assignment.
- Knowledge of and demonstrated ability to implement teaching practices that align with the Professional Standards for BC Educators.
- Has completed formal undergraduate or post-graduate studies in Fine Art.
- Demonstrated ability to teach a variety of art methods including sketching, painting, graphics, photography (digital), computer graphics, sculpture and têxtiles at the secondary school level.
- Demonstrated commitment to the inclusion of students with diverse abilities and supporting teacher assistants in the art classes
- Commitment to creating opportunities for students to display art work (e.g. school, community, school board office, art shows, community events, etc.,)
- Knowledgeable about and demonstrated ability to devise a variety of assessment processes that effectively allow students to demonstrate what they know, can do, and understand
- Awareness of, and experience, Indigenizing curriculum and working with the First Peoples Principles of Learning
- Demonstrated sensitivity, awareness and understanding of adolescent development and enthusiasm for working, and developing positive relationships, with students
- Demonstrated ability to recognize and acknowledge individual student differences and to adjust instructional practices accordingly
- Demonstrated desire and ability to collaborate with staff, parents and other professionals to contribute to general school effectiveness and to individual student learning
- Demonstrated ability to establish effective classroom procedures and incorporate a wide range of effective classroom management strategies which respect and maintain the dignity of students
- Demonstrated commitment to professional learning
- Demonstrated ability to adapt or modify curriculum for students who are experiencing difficulties
- Experience collaborating with SBT, Inclusion Teacher, Indigenous Enhancement Team, LATs, and RTs
- Demonstrated commitment to the use of technology to communicate consistently & effectively with parents
- Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills with students, staff and parents
