**Primary Purpose**

Fleming College Toronto is a public college-private partnership between Fleming College (FC) and Trebas Institute, with academic delivery and student support services managed by Global University Systems (GUS) Canada. Fleming College Toronto and Trebas Institute are part of the GUS Canada network of higher education institutions.

Trebas Institute, established in 1979, is a private vocational school with campuses in Montreal and Toronto and offers a broad range of programs in audio, film and television, business and technology as well as music, event and entertainment management. Our mission is to provide high-quality and accessible education and support services to maximize our students’ success and learning experience. Reporting to the Student Services Manager, the Student Relations Officer will also act as a liaison between the college and the Student Association by providing daily operational support and guidance where necessary.

**Specific Responsibilities**

**Knowledge of College Policies and Procedures**
- Quickly develop expert-level knowledge of all college policies and standard operating procedures relating to student rights and responsibilities.
- Routinely review and suggest revisions to college policies and procedures.

***Student Education**
- Develop and implement effective educational and promotional strategies to ensure student awareness and understanding of college rules and regulations.
- Provide expert-level troubleshooting, advice, and support to students in relation to their rights and responsibilities.

***Investigations**
- Respond to and investigate official complaints from members of the college community according to standard operating procedures and policies.
- Conduct investigative and disciplinary hearings with students in accordance with college policies and procedures.
- Maintain accurate and detailed case notes and documentation relating to violations of student rights and responsibilities.

***Managing Student Misconduct**
- Use a high level of diplomacy, rationality, and interpretation to resolve incidents and complaints, according to standard operating procedures, and in collaboration with college staff.
- Compile, document, and maintain an accurate database for all incident reports, student complaints, case files, and all related documents.
- Use a high-level of discretion to escalate severe cases of student misconduct to the leadership team.

***Collaboration & Support**
- Collaborate with college staff to provide supportive health and wellness resources to students.
- Liaise with Student Association representatives to provide support with college policies and procedures, ensuring adherence to guidelines.
- Support the Student Association with all daily operations including but not limited to structure, elections, departures, events, requests, and conflicts.
- Collaborate with Student Services and the Student Association to support operations as needed.

**Position Requirements**

***Education & Experience**
- Undergraduate degree or Diploma in Education, Administration, Conflict Resolution, Community Services, or related field.
- Minimum two (2) years of professional work experience in an education, administration, mediation, or community services setting.

**Skills**
- Expert-level conflict resolution and mediation
- Highly effective communicator
- High degree of diplomacy and rationality
- Proven organizational, time management, case management, and crisis management experience
- Excellent investigative and assessment skills
