Description:
As the manager your role will include activities such as: Coordinating and managing the timely submission of multiple grant reports to donor organizations in compliance with various donor/funder requirements and GAAP, as applicable. Reviewing and performing analysis on financial statements on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis. This would include the following activities: performing quality control review, ensuring reports comply with relevant standards or directives, correcting errors. Coordination and completion of tax research and provision of related advisory services (including engaging external tax consultants) with a specific emphasis on GST. Recommending and/or implementing changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the financial reporting cycle and related internal controls over financial reporting. Technical Accounting Research - including providing guidance and assistance to peers/staff and other departments by interpreting technical accounting standards (Specifically Public Sector Accounting Standards) to ensure the financial transactions are appropriately accounted for and disclosed. Coordinating Resource Management - Providing leadership, planning and direction to staff including coordinating and allocating workload assignments and reviewing of work. Coaching, supervision and development of professional staff mainly comprising Senior Financial Analysts and CPA articling students. Coordination and completion of various ad-hoc finance projects as requested by AHS’ pr Public Health Agencies’ Finance leadership including the Director, Senior Director or CFO. This position requires experience in managing tight reporting deadlines.

**Required Qualifications**:
Post secondary degree specializing in accounting or related field. CPA Accounting designation. Other professional accounting designations plus relevant experience may also be considered.

**Preferred Qualifications**:
Over 7 years of accounting/financial reporting experience with preference given to financial reporting and grant reporting experience within a large, complex public sector entity is preferred. Demonstrated experience in leading, managing and mentoring professional staff. Leadership skills, including demonstrated ability and comfort with decision making responsibilities, coaching and teaching, and the ability to inspire and build confidence in others.
