Overview:
The **Project Cost Accountant ** is a key position that facilitates the management & estimating structures. The position will report directly to the Controller.

**Responsibilities**:

- Primarily responsible for administering and control of project accounting on a continual basis.
- Ensure communication between Management, Estimating, and Operations
- Support for Accounts Payable
- Job Analysis - estimated vs. actuals - manage bid sheets / estimate & forecast project costs
- Ensure proper coding of costs for clean income statement reviews
- Reporting job production performance to management (income statement)
- Validating estimating assumptions
- Produce accurate and timely reports - project analysis
- Holdback accounts reconciliation
- Resource for operations staff to determine job performance
- Reconcile project accounting to general ledger
- Ad hoc - organize fixed asset counts, inventory counts, manage equipment transfers
- Enter adjusting journals as required
- Ensure proper job setup so there is continuity between information systems
- Ensure project accounting procedures are followed
- Constantly strive to improve accuracy of information flow through education, careful attention to detail, and improvements to information processing
- Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
**Educational background**
- Accounting degree & three to five years of experience in the construction industry or project management
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong computer skills.

**Experience**:

- Experience in a related role within a project based / construction industry
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel
- Experience with ERP systems
- Knowledge and experience in SAP an asset
- CPA designation an asset but not required
- Ability to work with tight deadlines and in a team environment

**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
