**Accounting Associate (Maternity Leave Coverage)**

The Finance Department is a vital component in enabling the Company to live its purpose by ensuring the financial health of the organization, as well as the Trust Funds we administer on behalf of our clients.

**We are looking for an Accounting Associate to join our team on a full-time basis for a 14-month maternity leave contract**. As the Accounting Associate, you will support the Company’s purpose by ensuring that financial transactions are accurately recorded, accounts are balanced, and the day-to-day financial activities are completed in a timely and accurate manner.

**Primary Responsibilities**
- Maintaining various financial spreadsheets designed to record and monitor financial information relating to the trust funds.
- Performing banking duties, including printing and importing of cheques; sending transaction data files to the bank; using our proprietary contractor remittance/data collection tool to create bank deposit slips and electronic fund transfer files; assembling/filing bank statements.
- Monitoring bank account activity to guard against errors and fraud
- Completing monthly bank reconciliations
- Generating monthly accounts receivable statements and balance accounts receivable reports to the general ledger.
- Assisting with year-end procedures, including gathering and assembling information, performing reconciliations, and answering auditor inquiries.
- Preparation of financial listings for trust fund meeting packages
- Complete various government remittances in a timely manner, free of errors.
- Calculating and sending Monthly Delinquent and penalty letters to contractors who are late in remitting their contributions
- Interfacing with our proprietary member database system that tracks member and employer contributions.
- Working closely with other members of the Accounting Department to provide timely and pristine financial information.
- Working collaboratively with other departments at the Company’s main Waterloo office to ensure financial information accuracy.
- Occasional interaction with Contractors/Employers to resolve accounts receivable and penalty matters.
- Other finance-related duties as assigned

**Experience, Skills, and Education**:

- Degree, Diploma, or Certificate from a recognized university or college in finance or accounting
- Strong skillset in Microsoft Office products (Excel & Word in particular)
- Highly analytical with strong attention to detail
- Values-oriented, data-driven decision-making style
- Excellent communication (verbal and written)
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize competing tasks

**Job Type**: Fixed term contract
Contract length: 14 months

Pay: $41,000.00-$50,000.00 per year
