Payroll Specialist

**The Job**:
- Enter accurate and timely processing and pay of all payroll transactions including salaries, benefits, taxes, and other deductions.
- Enter accurate and timely processing of payroll, commissions and benefit updates including new hires, terminations, and changes to pay policies.
- Preparation of payroll and benefit statements including remittances to the Receiver General, RRSP and other insurance providers. Benefits administration (benefit enrollment, changes, and terminations; reconciling monthly benefits statements)
- Administer and maintain employee payroll files and records. Processing new hire employee set up, terminations, T4s, T5018s and ROEs.
- Provide managers with payroll processing onboarding and training to support timely payroll processing and pay policy compliance.
- Facilitate communications with managers across the organization to ensure accurate and timely payroll is processed.
- Act as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for all payroll-related inquiries while reinforcing working relationships with staff.
- Remain current and well informed of legal and regulatory requirements that have an impact on the organization's payroll management, compensation, and benefits. Adopt requirements and communicate changes to management and stakeholders as needed.
- Support an environment of innovation and continual improvement within the payroll processing system.
- Routine and non-routine tasks and project work.
**Requirements**:
- Completion of Canadian Payroll Associations Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) designation is required. Canadian payroll experience required. Must have at least 3 or more years of experience in all facets of payroll administration including full-cycle payroll processing.
- Strong aptitude for systems and data management, specifically QuickBooks Desktop. Mid to advanced knowledge of excel and the use of formulas is required.
- Experience processing full-cycle payroll bi-weekly, including general analysis and reporting, with experience in accounting functions related to payroll.
- Possess expert knowledge of legislative requirements as they impact payroll.
- Must be able to walk into this role with the required skills to take on the position.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain effective, lasting professional relationships accompanied by a demonstrated customer focus.
- Strong organizational abilities, a keen attention to detail, proven problem solving and decision-making skills and the ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent time management skills; ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously and prioritize effectively.
- Ability to handle sensitive information and maintain absolute confidentiality.
**Salary**: $28.00-$33.00 per hour
