- As the Team Lead, Technical Services (LRV), you will be responsible for the management, direction, and control for life-cycle management of Calgary Transit's Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) fleet. This includes supporting maintenance, shop facilities, and equipment, establishing Quality Assurance and Quality Control based management systems for recording, monitoring, and reporting fleet performance, managing the development of maintenance standards and procedures, planning and scheduling of maintenance work. Primary duties include:
- Administer LRV requirements ensuring that service commitments, health and safety regulations, and industry standards are met including life-cycle planning, maintenance activities and rebuild/overhaul programs.
- Monitor, analyze and report on fleet performance by defining and administering maintenance standards.
- Establish documenting procedures and schedules that support continuous improvement processes for fleet performance.
- Provide technical support and problem resolution to significant fleet technical issues by leading the evaluating, testing and analysis of new components and products.
- Establish and maintain standard systems for planning, scheduling, and recording, analyzing, and reporting on maintenance activities ensuring consistency across all LRV divisions.
- Develop maintenance costing information in support of operating and capital budget planning, including negotiating contracts for major LRV commodities and vehicle/component purchases, rebuild programs and administering warranty programs on Light Rail Vehicle (LRV) components.
- Maintain knowledge of industry standards and practises by collaborating with industry peers, organizations, committees, suppliers, and contractors.
**Qualifications**
- At least one of the following education and experience combinations:
- A Journeyperson certificate in Automotive and Heavy Equipment Technicians with Heavy Duty or Truck and Transport Tickets and at least 10 years of related experience OR;
- A degree and at least 10 years of related experience OR;
- An Engineering designation such as a Certified Engineering Technologist (C.E.T.) and at least 8 years of experience OR;
- A degree in Engineering and at least 4 years of relevant professional engineering experience obtained after receiving your P. Eng. Designation and a current licensure as a Professional Engineer with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Alberta (APEGA) complete with practicing status OR licensure and practicing status by the first day of work Click here for more details.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
- A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalency) with no more than 6 demerits, and no current charges or suspension pending is required.
- Ability to obtain a City of Calgary operator's permit.
- Vendor and Contract management experience is essential for success in this role.
- Organizational skills including planning, project coordination, time management, and resource allocation.
- Ability to incorporate formal Quality Assurance and Quality Control principles into solutions.
- Experience with managing a budget, performing financial analysis, cost control, financial forecasting and reporting Revenue and expense tracking and cost-benefit analysis.
- A demonstrated ability to strategically negotiate contracts with diplomacy and tact paired with the ability to problem solve.
- The ability to lead a team including delegation, accountability, collaboration, and fostering teamwork.
**Working Conditions**:Mainly working in an office environment with some exposure to odors, noise, chemicals and traffic.
