Employing over 600 staff members, we provide services to over 32,000 customers per day in 32 distinct operations on campus. **Responsibilities**: The Accounting Assistant will provide financial and administrative assistance for the Hospitality Services Leadership team, to ensure that finances are accurate and up-to-date, invoices are processed accurately and efficiently and receivables are collected and journal entries are completed in a timely manner. The Accounting Assistant will administrate a variety of reconciliation functions and in accordance with Western policies and procedures, will ensure that accounting practices and principles are adhered to. The Accounting Assistant provides support specifically with respect to Point Of Sale systems, Meal Plan and ERP systems. The Accounting Assistant will also reconcile Off Campus Meal Plan Partner transactions, ensuring any discrepancies are communicated back to partners. The Accounting Assistant acts as a resource for inquiries, investigating and providing guidance related to financial transactions, account status and flow of funds. **Qualifications**: - Education: - 2 year community college diploma in business accounting or financial administration - Experience: - 2 years experience in a financial administration, accounts payable or accounting support role - Experience with PeopleSoft Financials is preferred - Knowledge, Skills & Abilities: - Demonstrated analytical ability with a solid understanding of accounting principles - Proven ability to multi-task and prioritize with an eye to consistently producing high-quality work in a demanding environment with multiple deadlines. - Ability to remain motivated and energized as much of the work is very repetitive - Demonstrated ability take initiative, to work independently and effectively as a team member - Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with suppliers and rebate partners - Ability to maintain confidentiality and treat sensitive information with discretion - Possesses a reputation for resourcefulness with a strong sense of accountability and initiative - Personable, courteous and professional in working relationships with colleagues - Ability to process large volumes of invoices with a high attention to detail - Demonstrated commitment to on-going learning and professional development - Demonstrated ability to research/investigate issues and resolve problems - Ability to work well under pressure and use good judgement - Detail oriented with an ability to process information with high levels of accuracy - Communication skills to clearly express ideas in an objective manner and adapt communication style to suit the situation and the audience - Customer service skills with a desire to achieve results in a timely manner - Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative and follow through on work assignments - Proven ability and natural inclination to interact with people in professional, respectful and diplomatic manner - Ability to provide guidance and support to ensure compliance with processes in a way that is positively received - Results-oriented with an ability to handle many tasks and maintain a high level of performance - Ability to understand and effectively communicate internal and external policies, guidelines and practices to stakeholders - Intermediate computer skills with Microsoft Office, including spreadsheet maintenance, word processing and database management - Ability to work independently and effectively as a member of the team to achieve departmental results **Union Statement**: **Western Values Diversity**: **Please Note**: We thank all applicants for their interest; however, only those chosen for an interview will be contacted.
