The Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is responsible for investigating serious and sensitive incidents under the _Police Act_, and allegations of statutory offences. These investigations involve events where serious injury or death may have been caused by police, a serious or sensitive allegations of police misconduct or an allegation of a statutory offence.

**Role Responsibilities**:

- Reporting to ASIRT's Executive Director, the **Manager, Operations and Strategy** provides strategic issues management and operational coordination to support the Executive Director in the daily administration and long-term planning of ASIRT's operations. This position oversees and streamlines a variety of functions, such as financial administration, preparation and tracking of action requests and briefing notes, and coordination support for training initiatives. The Manager of Operations and Strategy also acts as the key coordinator for ARTS within ASIRT. Additionally, the position analyzes data, develops ASIRTS annual report and coordinates its approval, supports stakeholder and community engagement, and supervises ASIRT's administrative support team.

Additional job duties include the following:

- Providing high-level strategic advice and coordination to executive leadership, addressing emerging issues and facilitating timely decision-making across ASIRT and the Police Review Commission (PRC).
- Leading daily operations, implement internal communication protocols, and drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Managing budgeting, forecasting, procurement, and financial reporting to support responsible fiscal management and compliance with government policies.
- Coordinating staff training, analyze operational data, and oversee records management to support informed planning and ensure compliance with standards.
- Building and maintaining relationships with internal teams, government partners, law enforcement, and community organizations to promote transparency and collaboration.
- Supervising administrative and quality assurance staff, champion equity and inclusion, and support recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning aligned with ASIRT’s strategic goals.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum Requirements:
University graduation in a related field (e.g., Criminology, Law and Society, Police Studies, Sociology) plus three (3) years of related experience.

Directly related education or experience will be considered on the basis of:

- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education

The following are requirements:

- Working experience within a law-enforcement setting.
- Experience with procurement, contract management, financial planning and/or developing financial budgets.

The following are considered assets:

- Knowledge of the _Police Act_, Police Service Regulations, _Canada Evidence Act_, and other relevant legislation, as well as policing policies and procedures.
- Experience providing strategic advice to senior/executive leadership.
- Experience writing for a variety of technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience with project management and/or strategic planning.
- Experience with negotiation, dispute resolution and issues management.
