Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Coordinator
**Location**: Coquitlam, BC
**Reports to**: Senior Manager, Human Resources
Position Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Occupational Health & Safety (OHS) Coordinator to support the implementation of safety practices across our autobody repair shops. Reporting to the Senior Manager, HR, this role will help maintain compliance with WorkSafeBC requirements, assist in incident investigations, and coordinate safety training and documentation.
Key Responsibilities
Safety Compliance & Auditing
- Conduct regular on-site safety walkthroughs and inspections using standardized checklists.
- Assist with maintaining compliance with WorkSafeBC and other provincial regulations.
- Help update safety tools, policies, and forms, including SDS libraries.
- Support preparations for external audits and certifications.
Incident & Injury Support
- Assist with documenting incidents, near misses, and corrective actions.
- Gather information to support incident investigations and escalate findings to management.
- Provide administrative support for WCB claims and modified work programs.
- Track incident trends and maintain records for HR and Operations.
Training & Orientation
- Coordinate onboarding safety orientation for new hires.
- Schedule and track required safety training (e.g., WHMIS, PPE, respirator fit testing).
- Provide frontline support for toolbox talks and safety reminders in shops.
Safety Data & Administration
- Maintain digital records of incidents, training, and corrective actions.
- Assist in preparing basic safety reports for HR and Operations.
- Support continuous improvement by documenting and sharing best practices.
Qualifications & Experience
- Certificate or coursework in Occupational Health & Safety (or equivalent experience).
- 1-2 years in a safety-related role, ideally in autobody, trades, manufacturing, or industrial settings.
- Basic knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations and safety practices.
- Familiarity with common autobody hazards (paint exposure, welding, lifting equipment) an asset.
- Strong documentation and administrative skills (Microsoft Office proficiency required).
- Clear and approachable communication style, with the ability to support frontline staff.
