Project Officer, Student System Support

**Duties and Responsibilities**:
Reporting to the Manager, Student System Support, the Project Officer is responsible for maintaining up-to-date Banner Student Systems documentation, troubleshooting, and quickly resolving Banner related problems. The incumbent develops solutions, tests the functionality of the systems and implements new processes to meet the mission, goals and objectives of the RO. The Project Officer requires knowledge of the student operating systems used to support student academic records and affiliated services (includes Banner, DARS and Egrades) and the office functional processes. Responsibilities include Registration support, Banner training for departmental staff, and participating in Banner upgrades by testing, validating and documenting the testing scenarios. The Project Officer supports processes of the Registrar’s Office and Academic Units by validating accuracy of student data, troubleshooting system problems, testing enhanced reports and processes, and developing documentation.
**Qualifications**:
**The incumbent must possess the following qualifications**:
- Ability to work with minimum supervision;
- Strong organizational, communication and writing skills;
- Ability to adapt easily to the project team environment and ability to meet project deadlines;
- Experience with Banner, Microsoft Office, Word, Excel,, PowerPoint; Adobe Captivate, SnagIt, Tracker and other software programs that would benefit the office;
- Excellent attention to detail and accurate data entry skills;
- Exhibits diplomacy and tact;
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
- Knowledge of Carleton University rules, regulations, and policies;
- Technical writing skills an asset
**Education and Experience**:
**The above is normally acquired through the completion of**:
- Undergraduate university degree
- At least five years of related administrative experience is essential, including at least six months prior IT quality assurance experience with the Banner Student system.
**Assets**:
- Previous experience working in a university environment
- Technical writing certification
