**Student Involvement Coordinator**
**About NAITSA**
The NAIT Students’ Association (NAITSA) is a registered non-profit organization that exists to provide services, representation and leadership to students enrolled in credit and apprenticeship programs in one of Canada's largest polytechnic institutions, the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT). Within NAITSA is our Campus Life department, responsible for creating the ultimate student life experience by delivering vibrant extra-curricular and co-curricular opportunities for NAIT students.
**The Opportunity**
We believe there is so much more to the post-secondary experience than just class work, and we want to give students the opportunities and resources to make the most of their time at NAIT. To be successful now, and in the future, it is essential for students to demonstrate their “out of the classroom” experiences in meaningful ways.
NAITSA offers intuitive solutions to students so they can document their campus experience and involvement, refine their soft skills, build an e-portfolio, and earn digital badges. We use two different online platforms - ookslife.ca and Milestone - to help administer all these offerings for students.
If you’re interested in checking out these online platforms, you can peruse them by clicking on these links: Ookslife.ca and Anthology Milestone
When it comes to these two unique student engagement platforms, we are just in the infancy of its campus rollout. We have big dreams to increase awareness, increase the number of campus partners using the platform, and really bolster its functionality to enhance the student experience. Maybe you can help us achieve that? _If we have caught your attentionplease read on_
**Who are we looking for?**
You aren’t overwhelmed by large amounts of data and are great at leveraging this information when making decisions and coming up with new strategies. You don’t shy away from taking risks and trying out new ideas. To be successful in this role, you will need to be able to establish positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, communicate effectively and, ideally, you have some background knowledge in the principles of adult education, student development, and/or career skills development. Our Campus Life team is growing, and we are looking for someone with these skills to help us to take our student engagement platforms to the next level.
**What you will be doing**
This position reports to the Campus Life Director. Here is a summary of the position:
Ookslife.ca, an Anthology Inc. solution, is a student engagement platform that houses all the “happenings” on campus (and everything that goes on in the backend of the platform) such as registering for events, tracking attendance and service hours, rosters, training opportunities, onboarding, student data, and the student Involvement Record.
Milestone is also an Anthology Inc. solution that helps students identify skills and set goals they need for their specific career path, build an e-portfolio to share with future employers, and show off all the involvement badges they earned while being a NAIT student.
As an ambassador of these two platforms, you will:
- Handle student information with the utmost regard for confidentiality and complying with the institution's policies and applicable privacy legislation
- Train, mentor, and provide ongoing support to other platform users
- Assist with technical troubleshooting, and escalate as required
- Collect and utilize data including analysis, pulling reports, filtering and cleaning raw data, and using data to improve student engagement
- Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders; help others understand how to connect the events and offerings on campus to a greater learning opportunity for students
- Lead the promotion of these platforms by coordinating with other departments and conducting workshops, presentations, and information sessions
- Use a “student-focused” mindset to maximize the offerings to students within these platforms by keeping track of development opportunities and ways for users to document their involvement on campus
- Be accountable for the “backend” organization of these platforms by developing best practices, ensuring other users are keeping information up-to-date, coaching new users, and troubleshooting issues
- Support students who want to maximize their soft skills development by utilizing the Milestone platform, working closely with Career Services to mentor students in using Milestone for career planning purposes
- Be the “go-to” for all technical aspects of the platforms, address user questions, support other users in properly maintaining information, verify student self-reported information, offer coaching and mentoring in using the platform, and escalate issues as required
Within this role, there is also the opportunity to get involved with event sponsorship by bringing potenti
