**The S2G Team is Growing**
We are looking to hire a Payroll Specialist who enjoys working on a small team as a Subject Matter Expert. You must be self-motivated and have solid work experience managing and processing full-cycle, bi-weekly payroll for hourly, salaried and commission earning professionals in the US and Canada. You will oversee the day-to-day operations, ensure accurate and efficient delivery of standardized workflows, projects, payroll tax and account reconciliations, year-end reporting as well as supporting internal and external audits.
The Payroll Specialist will function as the HR Reporting Specialist and act as the primary contact for HR reports. You will enjoy this aspect of the role if you enjoy analyzing data and will be the team’s backbone to provide timely, and accurate reporting on a weekly, monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad hoc basis to assist with data-driven strategic decision-making.
**Payroll**
- Process timely and compliant payroll for North American employees
- Verify regular and overtime hours with the appropriate management team members prior to committing payroll (managers for hourly employees approve timecards prior to Mondays at 10am. Their approval is a confirmation that they have reviewed and approved time sheets.
- Administer proper approval processes for wage increases, bonuses, commissions, and all master file changes
- Calculate and prepare monthly commission reports for the sales teams
- Capture all payroll and benefits data, including adding new hires, updating changes to employee information, processing terminations, and issuing records of employment and other employee-related documents.
- File periodic and year-end remittances, including various payroll taxes, T4s, W2’s ROEs and provincial workers’ compensation, in a timely manner.
- Prepare various management reports and analysis.
- Implement policies and drive process improvement with evolving requirements of the business
**Reporting**
- Preparation of numerous dashboards and reports for a variety of stakeholders (HR, the business, executives) focusing on key HR metrics (headcount, turnover, etc.)
- This would involve collaborating with all relevant stakeholders within HR, Finance, and other areas of the business
- Run ad-hoc reports and conduct thorough analysis of HR data as requested
- Participate in key HR projects providing data knowledge and advice to HR peers as to how to best use the information available to assist in building business requirements and/or validating business assumptions
- Partner with HR leaders to define and track key metrics to measure the success of our people strategy
- Continuously analyze reporting processes, making improvements to enhance accuracy, efficiency and value of the reports, insights, and dashboards
- Perform data analysis and verification, draw conclusions; prepare reports and presentations; make recommendations from the data results based on business issues
**Your Skills and Experience**:
- A minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in full-cycle payroll (i.e., multi-province and multi-state, full-time/part-time hourly and salaried staff, regular and overtime hours, sales commissions, etc.)
- Previous hands-on experience in calculating hourly pay and overtime across North America
- Knowledge of employment standards and other relevant provincial employment legislation
- Previous experience working with Ceridian Dayforce is an asset
- Proficient in MS Office tools with the ability to manipulate and calculate large data sets in Excel, including the use of pivot tables, functions/formulas
- Strong customer service focus with an ability to communicate effectively with all levels of the organization and partner with key stakeholders
- Excellent organizational and records management skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- An analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
- Ability to demonstrate integrity and professionalism when dealing with confidential and sensitive information
