Position Overview

Reporting Directly to Senior Human Resources manager seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist who will be 

primarily responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of payroll for our organization and answering all payroll related inquiries

Salary Range :
$75,000 - $85000 CAD

Responsibilities

  • Processing payroll by collecting, calculating, and entering data and deductions into the payroll system.
  • Ensuring databases are updated and reflect the current employee base, salaries, hourly wages, benefits, and pension percentages.
  • Liaising with team members to gather information on hours worked for employees.
  • Calculating and processing overtime, 
    statutory pay
    , commissions, bonuses, and other additional earnings.
  • Administering and managing employee benefits (group benefits, pension plan) and other remittances, as required.
  • Monitoring, correcting employees leave(s) balance and processing banked hours balance – being point of contact for inquiries re: leaves request and balances
  • Reconciling 3rd party bills (Blue Cross) and sending payment requisition to finance
  • Preparing Pension Upload file and sending payment requisitions to finance team.
  • Reconciling and managing all WCBs accounts (ON, AB, NS, BC, QC, SK, NFL,MB)
  • Sending clocking activities report to operations manager for review and processing manually any exceptions in payroll.
  • Issuing ROR thru ROE WEB
  • Monitoring and processing benefits payment (CC) for employees on leave
  • Addressing issues and questions regarding payroll from employees and management.
  • Preparing reports for management, Human Resources and Accounting.
  • Processing and monitoring garnishment orders.
  • Preparing year-end employee tax slips or forms, including all reconciliations, and submitting filings to all government agencies to meet deadlines.
  • Maintaining confidential information by adhering to legal and ethical standards.
  • Assisting the Accounting team with payroll-related matters, including payroll general ledger entries and audit activities.
  • Other tasks as required.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in payroll, specifically with Ceridian Dayforce.
  • Strong proficiency in MS Excel and MS Office Suite.
  • Degree in accounting/payroll program or a related financial field.
  • Solid understanding of accounting fundamentals and payroll best practices.
  • Very good knowledge of Canada wide payroll-related legislation and regulations of the field.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Trustworthy with attention to confidentiality.
  • Outstanding organizational ability with great attention to detail.
