Sister Margaret Smith Centre is seeking a full-time Addiction Counsellor to work within the Adult Services team. This position is primarily responsible for providing Addiction Services to adults and older adults and their family members who are experiencing substance use issues often with co-occurring disorders (addictions and mental health). Service delivery would include: assessment, screening, case management, individual and family counselling, and facilitating psycho-educational and support groups. Outreach work, including occasional home visits, is part of the delivery system and may involve evening and weekend work. This position would function as a member of the Adult Services treatment team, which is multidisciplinary and integrated across agencies within the Mental Health and Addiction system in Thunder Bay.

**Qualifications**:

- Honours Bachelor of Social Work (or equivalent) from an accredited university
- Registration with the appropriate regulatory college
- Minimum three years of clinical experience working with older adults
- Strong knowledge/experience in mental health and addiction issues affecting older adults
- Familiarity with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial models of care
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Understanding of Indigenous culture and Northern communities
- Training or experience in trauma and crisis intervention
- Valid Ontario driver’s license and clean driver’s abstract
- Demonstrated history of regular attendance at work

**CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT**
This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
