**Rate of Pay: $36.38 - $46.35 per hour**

This position is attached to Adult Addictions Programs and will provide addiction and mental health services to vulnerable clients in the community who are experiencing homelessness and complex addiction/mental health needs. The Addiction Counsellor will provide case management, screening, assessment, consultation, referrals, discharge planning and follow up services for program clients as required. This position would function as a member of the Adult Treatment team and work in collaboration with partnering agencies connected with District of Thunder Bay Social Services Social Housing Programs including individuals living at The Lodge on Dawson. The role will also include collaborating with referral destinations, families and colleagues with regards to the client’s mental health and addiction needs.

**Qualifications**:

- A Bachelor of Social Work degree or equivalent from an accredited University and registration with a regulatory body is required
- Minimum of 3 years experience within the adult addiction and mental health field
- Experiencing working with individuals that are homeless or at risk for homelessness is an asset
- Experience and working knowledge of Social Housing programs through District of Thunder Bay Social Services will be an asset
- Well-developed oral and written communication skills are necessary, as well as, excellent time management and organizational skills
- Experience with group facilitation, case management and individual counselling are considered essentials
- Knowledge in evidence based practice models applicable to addictions and mental field and experience working with community partners
- Direct experience in non-violent crisis intervention
- Experience with interdisciplinary bio-psychosocial model of care
- Demonstrated understanding of Northern and Indigenous communities
- A valid Ontario Driver’s License, access to a reliable and adequate insurance
- Demonstrated regular attendance at work
- In adherence with SJCG policy-proof of Covid-19 vaccination is required

This position shall be conditional upon a satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) where indicated, to ensure the absence of relevant criminal convictions.
