Maintenance Assistants are a key part of our success. MAs are responsible for ensuring that the physical conditions of our properties are maintained to Ecuhome standards and in accordance with all municipal and provincial housing & building regulations. MAs provide maintenance service to tenants to promote quality of life.

**Responsibilities**:

- Working with tenants and Housing Support Workers to ensure Ecuhome properties are maintained in a manner that promotes quality of life for tenants
- Building professional relationships with tenants, outside contractors and other community members
- Providing notice to tenants in accordance with the Residential Tenancy Act to enter their units
- Completing regular inspections of properties and reporting concerns to the Maintenance Coordinator
- Carrying out all required janitorial, grounds-keeping and maintenance tasks, as assigned
- Regularly monitoring the condition of buildings and reporting concerns
- Identifying preventative and on-going maintenance needs
- Cleaning and upkeep of all common areas at Ecuhome properties
- Keeping walkways and parking areas free of ice/snow and other debris
- Completing and submitting daily work order reports
- After-hours emergency pager responsibilities per rotating schedule
- Ensuring timely and safe removal of all waste and recyclables from properties
- Preparing and cleaning rooms to Ecuhome standards prior to tenant occupancy
- Assisting Maintenance Workers with service and repair of all building components and equipment
- Completing routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs, filters, batteries, door locks, etc.
- Delivering material, equipment and notices to properties
- Adhering to all safety, fire and building code requirements
- Assessing potential emergency situations and responding to calls as necessary
- Maintaining knowledge of the location of power, water and gas turnoffs and fire extinguishers in all Ecuhome properties

**Qualifications**:

- Ability to learn procedures, work independently, and contribute to a team environment
- Ability to positively interact with a tenant population where mental health and addictions challenges are present
- Completion of high school
- Minimum of 2 years of janitorial experience in the maintenance of multi-unit residential settings
- Reliable transportation to visit several assigned properties as needed
- Familiarity with electricity, plumbing and carpentry
- Working knowledge of relevant regulations, legislation and codes governing housing & building safety

This position is in the bargaining unit.

with after hours on-call rotation (approx. 8 times per year)

**Salary**: $35,047.21 with generous travel allowance

Location: Scattered properties in the old City of Toronto (central maintenance office located at 188 Dunn Ave.)

License: G Drivers License & vehicle (required)
