**Breaking Free from Family Violence Coordinator**
**Pay**: $26.00/hour
**Hours**: Part-time (24 hours per week)

**Job Summary**
This program supports Indigenous women in a culturally rooted, holistic way, so that they are better able to navigate through the complex systems encountered when experiencing violence and involvement with child welfare.
**Duties**
- Provides case management services to assist Indigenous women involved with the
CAS/DBCFS including but not limited to assessments, short
- and long-term planning, supportive counselling, system navigation and follow up when required.
- Attends appointments and meetings with women and provides transportation as required.
- Provides targeted outreach to Indigenous women attempting to break free from family violence.
- Provides cultural and traditional support, through methods such as circles, teachings, ceremonies, and Elders/Traditional Healers.
- Provides support, advocacy, referrals and connections to Indigenous women and community resources as needed including exploring how to work with Indigenous women and their families in ways that are more holistic and culturally competent.
- Provides crisis support and referrals to ongoing counselling services to survivors of family violence.
- Works with local service providers to develop collaborative relationships, partnerships, and protocols.
- Liaises with stakeholders and service providers to provide integrated services and/or pertinent specialized information to enhance program effectiveness and Community
Member outcomes.
- Acts as an advocate and resource person for the organization on issues specific to breaking free from family violence.
- Shares educational material, and wise practices for culturally safe services that have been developed by Indigenous organizations and services.
- Researches and informs Indigenous mothers of their rights, roles, and responsibilities.
- Prepares case reports, document information, and maintain accurate case records, draft correspondence, impact statements and program reports, including program evaluation.
- Other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s Degree or College Diploma in a related field (Social Work, Child and
Youth Work, Social Services) or relevant mix of education and lived experience.
- Minimum 3 years experience working with women survivors of trauma.
- Experience working with Indigenous women and their families involved in the correctional system, child welfare system, and/or social welfare system.
- Experience in case management and excellent time management.
- Knowledge and awareness of issues related to Gender Based Violence in Ontario, specifically in Simcoe County and surrounding area.
- Strong knowledge of Indigenous and mainstream supports in the community.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent understanding of confidentiality.
- Effective computer skills including MS Office, Outlook, Excel, MS Teams, etc.
- Demonstrated understanding of trauma informed care, cultural safety, and a willingness to train wherever is needed to best represent ONWG’s members.
- Class “G” valid driver’s license required.
- Valid Criminal Reference Check and Vulnerable Sector Screen required.
