**The Northwest Region** spans over half a million square kilometers, with more than 90% Crown land, vast forests, and extensive waterways. It includes diverse communities, with a strong Indigenous presence across four treaty areas. The region supports resource-based industries, including forestry, mining, renewable energy, and tourism, and experiences the majority of Ontario's wildfires. With significant land use planning, permitting, and resource management responsibilities, the Northwest plays a vital role in Ontario's economic and environmental landscape.

**The Northeast Region** has a complex planning environment, with diverse natural resources and significant development pressures, covering both a Crown and privately-owned landscape. It covers four Ecoregions and the shores of two Great Lakes (Lake Huron and Lake Superior). It has a strong Indigenous presence including seven treaty areas and it contains multiple urban centres and rural communities. The unique mix of resource-based industry, recreational use, and Indigenous interests makes the Northeast Region an exciting environment for resource management in Ontario.

**About the job**: In this job, you will:

- Provide strategic guidance, advice and leadership in the implementation of the Ministry's resource management, resource development and renewable energy priorities
- Lead project teams and coordinate the review of complex resource management/development and renewable energy proposals
- Provide advice and interpretation of, and training related to, resource management/development and renewable energy policies and guidance to Ministry staff
- Advise senior managers and Ministry staff on resource management/development issues and strategies
- Build and maintain effective relationships with colleagues, industry and stakeholders
- Consult and liaise with industry and stakeholders on initiatives related to resource management/development, renewable energy and planning
- Coordinate the provision of regional input into the development of provincial program, policy, legislative and procedural guidance initiatives
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of regional implementation of resource management/development and energy-related policies, procedures and activities.

**Note: Occasional travel across the Northwest or Northeast Region is required.**

**Leadership and Project Coordination Skills**: You have:

- Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to multi-disciplinary project teams in the delivery of resource management and development initiatives/ projects
- Demonstrated ability to provide guidance and direction to staff to lead the transfer, interpretation and implementation of resource management/development priorities and projects in the region
- Proven ability to coordinate complex projects, including the development of project plans and delivering within timelines

**Analytical and Strategic Thinking Skills**: You have:

- Demonstrated ability to identify trends, needs and opportunities, and to develop and implement strategic approaches to address them
- The ability to analyze information to identify potential issues and implications, develop viable options and recommend appropriate courses of action
- The ability to consider client, stakeholder, Indigenous community and public interests when recommending strategies and tactics to advance ministry objectives

**Interpersonal and Relationship Management Skills**: You have:

- Demonstrated ability to employ facilitation and conflict resolution techniques to encourage constructive sharing of diverse perspectives and enable effective resolution of issues and problem solving
- The ability to employ tact and discretion, and to motivate others to achieve positive outcomes
- Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships (e.g. with colleagues, clients, other ministries)
