**About Us**
The Land Use Planning and Strategic Issues Section is the lead for land use planning, issues management and communication functions within the Regional Operations Division, Northwest Region. Our Regional Planners work on an array of planning functions and scales across Northwestern Ontario and may be assigned to a specific sub-geography and/or function.
We are looking for a new team member who is keen to put their skills to work across a challenging portfolio of land use, resource management and project planning initiatives. Our team provides planning expertise to a wide range of ministry and external parties and initiatives. We work closely together as a team to support one another and bring diverse perspectives to the work we do.

**About the job**: In this role, you will:
- lead and coordinate planning teams' input and review of land use and resource management policy documents and projects to determine alignment with ministry objectives
- work collaboratively with program specialists, other divisions and ministries to provide interpretation, explanation and advice in the areas of land use, resource management and project planning
- lead engagement and consultation efforts including with adjacent First Nations, industry, stakeholders and the public
- deliver training to integrated project teams and staff across the region
- prepare analysis, briefing notes, Minister's letters for senior management and support issues management

**Communication and interpersonal skills**:
- You can translate technical and specialized language, concepts, processes and information into terms and
messages easily understood by a variety of audiences.
- You can lead meetings and workshops related to land use planning.
- You can prepare technical reports and various other forms of correspondence.
**Technical knowledge**:
- You have experience with land and resource planning concepts and methodologies.
- You have knowledge of environmental assessment principles, processes and practices.
- You have knowledge of environmental standards, guidelines and legislation relevant to the broad scale land use planning program.
**Leadership and project management skills**:
- You are able to use tact, discretion and motivation to encourage open communication.
- You can implement and support a large volume of program and planning projects.
- You can work cooperatively within the work unit, across the ministry and with other ministries and partners
to achieve group and ministry goals.
**Analytical and organization skills**:
- You possess analytical and evaluative skills to assess, review and synthesize data, and to seek advice from experts/professionals on land use proposals and other regulatory approvals.
- You possess organizational skills to lead the planning of many concurrent projects, logístical tasks, scheduling, meeting arrangements, etc.
