**Position**:Margaret Jenkins Assistant Manager

**Salary range/Hours of work**:$24.50 to 27.55 per hour/35 hours per week, Out of School Care
hours plus administrative hours scheduled in collaboration with supervisor**

**Overall Position Objectives**

The Margaret Jenkins OSC Assistant Manager will act as a liaison and provide supervision and
support to management staff as well as all front line Out of School Care staff.
The MJ OSC Assistant Manager will plan and deliver high quality, client centered childcare and
family services and act in accordance with the FGCA policies and procedures as well as within
the requirements of all governing agencies by:

- Encouraging involvement from our Out of School Care families in Association activities
- Maintaining a general knowledge of Fairfield Gonzales Community Association’s services

and programs
- Maintaining rules and regulations to create a comfortable atmosphere
- Attending staff meetings, and other community meetings, when necessary
- Supporting related FGCA activities and special events and generally promoting the mission

of the association
**Specific Job Duties and Responsibilities**

**Margaret Jenkins Out of School Care Assistant Manager**
**Administration** Ensure licensing regulations are met
- Actively participate with planning and implementation of Pro D Day’s, Camps and Special
- Events
- Plan, program, and oversees Pro-D and Spring Break Camps programs that take place on-site
- Monitor, and maintain program supplies
- Communicate with all FGCA staff to promote an open, collaborative environment
- Assume the managerial duties in the absence of the Margaret Jenkins OSC Manager
- Assist with facility orientations and interviews at the discretion of the supervisor
- Design program plans in keeping with the philosophy of OSC as outlined in policy manual
- Correctly update and manage profiles in Database
- Promote the mission and values of the FGCA
- Provide support to the Margaret Jenkins OSC Manager with administrative tasks as needed
- Identify and communicate staff development needs to the Childcare Coordinator
- Build positive relations with school facilitator, school staff, PAC and community members

**Finances** Correctly reconcile monthly budget, Pro-D and Spring Break Camp budgets when applicable
- Provide a list of supplies needed to the Margaret Jenkins OSC Manager, for weekly snack

according to budget

**Policy and Procedure**: Ensure adherence to all childcare licensing regulations and FGCA policies, guidelines and

procedures** Understand and implement protocol i.e. missing child protocol, unauthorized pick up, non
- notified absence etc.** Act in accordance with the code of conduct of the Fairfield Gonzales Community Association**

**Children**: Work in ratio when necessary
- With the support of the OSC staff, coordinate and plan the delivery of age-appropriate
- programs and activities for children up to 12 years of age
- Provide a high standard of care to children in the program, with particular attention to
- physical safety and emotional well-being
- Promote children’s self esteem and confidence building
- Provide age-appropriate guidance and direction to children in care
- Provide all required care and support to program participants including, but not limited to;
- provision of first aid, behaviour management, and appropriate risk management
- Document and report all incidents suspected or confirmed of child abuse or neglect to the
- program supervisor and appropriate agencies
- Support Leaders and children when called upon if behavioural situation arises

**Parents** Liaise correct information between the coordinator, manager, other team members and
- parents
- Communicate late fees, charges or other financial matters to Margaret Jenkins OSC
- Manager
- Inform parents/guardians of any relevant or significant challenges regarding their child (i.e.,
- behavioural, emotional, physical)
- Be available for parent conferences or meetings when needed or requested
- Remind parents of extra costs, changing hours, special events, etc.
- Firm understanding of registration procedures as stated by the Childcare Coordinator
- Familiar with all policies as stated in Parent Handbook and Staff Handbook
- Display and promote a positive family centered attitude and a helpful approach at all times
- Offer appropriate resources and support to families

**Staff** Ensure all licensing facility regulations are met
- Ensure all staff are aware of their working schedules - pro d day and early dismissal included
- Aid staff, practicum students, volunteers, and users in the delivery and implementation of
- OSC programs as necessary
- Attend all staff meetings and training sessions as well as take minutes when applicable
