**Environmental Supervisor**

**This position offers competitive total compensation including a wage of $83,564.29 to $104,455.36, 40 hours per week.**

**Position Summary**

Under the direction of the Director, Environmental Services, the Environmental Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations and maintenance of water and wastewater services. The Supervisor ensures work is performed according to occupational health and safety standards and MECP requirements. The role ensures due diligence is displayed by staff in all work areas and there is full compliance with standards and applicable legislation. The Supervisor monitors and investigates complaints from the public and ensures excellent customer service.

**Duties & Responsibilities**

**Water/Wastewater Operations**
- Provide day-to-day direction and assignment of work to operating staff and monitor their performance.
- Lead, plan, direct and coordinate activities of the Water Wastewater Services Division and facilitate interaction with other Town departments and services.
- Assume the O.R.O (Overall Responsible Operator), in the absence of the Director, Environmental Services as requested.
- Receive, monitor, and ensure compliance of operational field records, activities, and sites in accordance with operational policies and government regulations, M.E.C.P. certificates and approvals including related environmental issues.
- Consult with Director and receive task assignments for the water/wastewater operators regarding the daily operation of treatment facilities and linear systems in accordance with work plans and oversee the successful completion of water/wastewater assignments.
- Coordinate, approve and oversee confined space entry and proper personal protection equipment.
- Oversee and ensure that all tasks and projects performed by employees, specialists, and contractors, within functional area, are carried out within Occupational Health and Safety standards, and that all proper due diligence is carried out.
- Monitor the work of contractors employed to work on site, ensuring project work is completed correctly and in a timely and safe manner.
- Act as the contact person between projects and the Director ensuring that all contractors have proper Workers’ Compensation coverage.
- Engage the Water and Wastewater Services team and ensure adherence to commitments and follow up with team members to ensure commitments are satisfactorily achieved.
- Direct the necessary repairs in a timely and cost-efficient manner, in compliance with all Town, departmental, provincial, and federal requirements.
- Monitor and ensure maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment schedules. Coordinate internally performed and externally contracted maintenance/repair and arrange the submission of orders according to the acquisition of material procedure in the purchasing policy.
- Oversee Maintenance staff in implementation of their preventative maintenance scheduled and unscheduled work programs by coordinating maintenance work with operations.

**Administration & Budget Support**:

- Monitor the data information system for water and sanitary sewage control systems (SCADA) and ensure compliance with MECP, Bylaws, policies and procedures.
- Monitor the input of data in the work order system and ensure work is performed as requested.
- Review data collected from yearly scheduled programs including sewer assessment and flushing to identify and trends or emerging issues.
- Assist the Director, Environmental Services in the preparation of the corporate annual and long-range manpower, service plans, operational and capital budgets. Monitor all activity budgets on a regular basis.
- Participate in the forecast of vehicle replacement, capital equipment repair or replacement and forecast of critical infrastructure.
- Investigate and respond to inquiries from and/or liaise with the public, investigate public complaints by filtering through the information and determining the resolution and corrective action as required. Forward any issues that cannot be resolved to the Director or relevant department.
- Maintain effective and co-operative liaison, and exchange information with other staff, municipalities, government agencies/departments, other organizations, members of the public, etc.
- Deal with all contacts in a courteous, friendly, and efficient manner to always promote a high standard of customer service
