**About the Newcomer Centre**

Since 1981, the Newcomer Centre has helped thousands of newcomers build meaningful lives in Edmonton and across Alberta. We believe every person—regardless of where they start—deserves the opportunity to belong, contribute, and thrive.

Our programs help people learn English, find employment, and connect with their new community. We are guided by four core values**:Compassion, Empowerment, Interconnectedness, and Accountability.**

**About the Role**

The **Manager, Workforce Development & Partnerships**, provides strategic and operational leadership to a portfolio of programs that help newcomers achieve meaningful, sustainable employment. This hands-on role combines people leadership, program evaluation, and partnership development. The Manager leads a capable team of Coordinators and Employment Practitioners, ensuring programs are delivered with quality, consistency, and alignment to the organization’s **2025-2028 Strategic Plan**.

We’re seeking a systems thinker with experience in workforce and career development, change management, and cross-sector collaboration—someone who can connect strategic direction with day-to-day impact.

**What You Will Do**
- Lead planning, delivery, and evaluation of employment and training programs that meet funder and community goals.
- Develop annual operational and performance plans and ensure program accountability.
- Manage multi-program budgets, reporting, and quality assurance.
- Build partnerships with employers, post-secondary institutions, and industry networks to expand employment pathways.

- Champion inclusive and accessible practices across all program operations.
- Participate in the **Strategic Leadership Table (SLT)** and serve as liaison with employee-led committees.

**What It Takes**

We recognize that people gain experience in many ways. The most helpful background for this role will combine formal learning and hands-on leadership in **employment, workforce development, or community-based programming.**
- Post-secondary education in **Human Services, Career Development, Business, Education,** or a related field—or an equivalent blend of training and experience.
- About **five years of progressive experience** in employment, workforce, or settlement programs, including **three years in a supervisory or management role.**:

- Experience improving employment or training initiatives that connect participants to sustainable work.
- Familiarity with **evaluation and data tools** such as _Power BI_, _iSTEDY_, or other analytics platforms.
- A record of developing partnerships with employers, funders, and post-secondary institutions, and managing multi-funder budgets or reporting frameworks.
- Knowledge of **Alberta’s labour market** and the employment barriers newcomers face.
- Additional assets such as certification or training in **leadership, project management, or program evaluation.**

What matters most is your ability to lead through change, connect strategy to action, and build systems that help newcomers thrive.

**What You Bring**

You are a **collaborative and thoughtful leader** who balances strategy with empathy and accountability. You believe leadership is both relational and results-oriented.

You bring:

- **Curiosity and critical thinking**—you ask how systems can work better for people.
- A **flexible, collaborative,** **coaching approach**, empowering others to grow and take ownership of their work.
- A commitment to **inclusive and accessible practices** in supervision, program design, and partnerships.
- Comfort with **Microsoft 365** and an openness to learning new digital tools.
- The ability to **navigate complexity** with creativity and clear communication.
- A spirit of **continuous learning**, using feedback and diverse perspectives to improve results.
- A genuine connection to our core values of **Compassion, Empowerment, Interconnectedness, and Accountability.**
