Job Description:
**POSITION PURPOSE**
Reporting to the Supervisor, Space and Furniture Design Services, is responsible for overseeing space planning projects and coordinating furniture configuration and moves for client Departments; overseeing all project requirements; consulting with end users and maintaining space and furniture standards; establishing scope of work and providing budget estimates and schedules related to procurement of furniture; providing designing and drafting space planning drawings for capital projects, renovations, furniture reconfigurations moves, adds and changes using computer aided design software; developing and maintaining electronic databases; providing technical service and direction to consultants; and assisting with furniture procurements/disposition and installation activities.

**MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Acts as the main point of contact in the receipt and development of client initiated space planning projects, as assigned.
- Coordinates the implementation of space planning projects including the installation and/or configuration of furniture systems, electrical, voice, data, signage and architectural components, in accordance with Regional objectives, the clients’ requirements, schedules and budgets.
- Oversees move management services to clients.
- Recommends approval of drawings, space planning designs and office layouts for capital projects; prepares and/or reviews conceptual, presentation and final contract drawing.
- Provides consultation to clients in developing project concept, assessing furniture requirements: oversees new furniture acquisition, installations, disposition of surplus furniture and moves; provides direction and technical advice to clients, consultants and installers.
- Designs and assists in the preparation of contract documents and drawings for capital projects with the aid of computers using computer aided design and drawing software (AutoCAD).
- Inputs and formats data and reviews, monitors and maintains a space planning electronic database, including floor plans, space allocations and furniture inventory, and the incorporation of this information into the Branch’s CAFM/CAPP Automation Systems.
- Ensures the transition of space planning projects, including conducting focus groups and customer service satisfaction surveys.
- Performs other duties as assigned in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Successful completion of a Community College Diploma in Interior/Environmental Design or Architectural/Engineering Design Technician program or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Minimum three (3) years related experience in a Facility Management/Space Planning role using AutoCAD with responsibilities for furniture and space planning and design.
- Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety Act legislation/ergonomic standards, applicable Federal and Provincial Building Codes and Municipal By-laws
- Demonstrated knowledge of furniture systems and design/pre-design principals related to space planning.
- Valid Class “G” driver’s license and a reliable vehicle for use on corporate business.
- Knowledge of planning methods, project development, contract document preparation and building systems and standards.
- Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer focus, communication, collaboration and personal ownership.
