**Position Description**:

- With the ever-growing demands on our surgical wait list, patient preparedness to avoid delays and cancellations is a key priority. The
- **Clinical Coordinator, PreAnesthesia Clinic **based in the pre-anesthesia clinic is responsible for providing operational support and leadership overseeing the patient preparedness when coming for surgery. The Clinical Coordinator, PreAnesthesia Clinic will collaborate with multiple stakeholders including but not limited to; Pre-Anesthesia Clinic, ambulatory clinics, surgical booking coordinators, OR booking office staff, Perianesthesia CSNs, Surgeons, and Anesthesiologists and patients and families to ensure the patient is efficiently and safely prepared for surgery in a consistent and timely manner. The Clinical Coordinator will support and participate in Perioperative quality initiatives and promote service excellence.Responsibilities include the oversight of centralized readiness pathway to ensure efficient surgical preparedness. This includes but is not limited to overseeing the PAC dashboard, triaging patients for pre-anesthesia assessment prior to surgery, utilizing procedure pass to identify outstanding tasks to appropriate teams/families prior to surgery scheduling, being a central point of contact for pre-surgery check in with families to ensure the patient is clinically well prior to surgery.The Clinical Coordinator will participate in project working groups to create, finalize and implement tasks and workflows for patient readiness leading and advocating for this organizational wide change looking for opportunities to optimize efficient patient collaboration and partnership in their care through the tools available to the care team e.g. MyChart as well as ways to use digital health to automate parts of the process where possible. The Clinical Coordinator must possess the leadership skills, professionalism, and adaptability to deal effectively with the complex healthcare environment and the ability to manage change, influence and empower others to influence patient readiness.**Here's What you'll Get to Do**:

- Participate as an active member of the POCU Leadership team, reporting directly to Clinical Manager, PreAnesthesia Clinic and Pain Program.
- Act as an operational support and liaison between the PM, Surgeons, Surgical Administrators, and the OR Leadership Team for operational issues and objectives for Surgery FLIPP project.
- Works in collaboration with the PreAnesthesia Clinic, Surgical Administrators, OR Patient Information Coordinator in the booking office, and the OR Clinical Coordinator to ensure patients are prepared and ready to be booked in the OR.
- Lead patient readiness objectives to increase operational efficiencies on the day of surgery and maximize surgical throughput
- Participate in the execution of specific projects and engages SMEs and stakeholders as necessary to enhance patient readiness and operational readiness in the operating rooms.
- Partner with Surgical Administrators and Surgeons across all services to develop and implement Procedure Pass Tasks for specific patient and surgical populations
- Participate in inter-professional committees and quality improvement activities
- Actively promote and contribute to the professional development of peers and other healthcare team members
- Engage in reflective practice and participates in the Performance Management program
- Promote a positive working climate to foster team cohesiveness
- Demonstrate commitment to continuing education activities and life-long learning as it relates to ongoing professional development and excellence in patient care
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of the EPIC tools, and work with the clinical teams and Epic analysts to either make changes to the existing forms or to support the clinical teams in learning how to enter/access information
