**Position Summary**:
To be an active member of the Villa Management Team. Reporting to the Director of Human Resources, manages Human Resources in a manner consistent with the Mission, Management and Organizational Philosophies of St. Joseph’s Villa and relevant legislation. Provides Human Resources support and knowledge to all levels of the organization.

**Duties and Responsibilities**:

- Participates in Labour Relations including pre-grievance and grievance. If required, many participate in mediation and negotiations.
- Provides ongoing consultation, counselling and support. Helps with strategies to support team with employee issues and goals.
- Supports the Villa’s internal & external recruitment and posting process and assists as required.
- Develop and maintains positive relations with management, staff, unions, member organizations, external contacts and partners, residents, families and visitors to the Villa.
- Manages the Villa’s Employee Assistance Program.
- Contact for references and employment verification.
- Develop and maintains positive relations with management, staff, unions, member organizations, external contacts and partners, residents, families and visitors to the Villa
- Preparation and distribution of quarterly seniority lists and ensure accuracy of scheduling system.
- Participates in education, training and surveys as required.
- Ensure complete confidentiality of employee files, organization correspondence and communicators
- May participate in development and updates of policies and procedures related to Human Resources.
- Participation and leadership on internal committees
- Participates in the hiring, performance management, termination of employees as required.
- Supports the Human Resources Department in data collection, analysis and presentations
- Supports the downloading of yearly education in the Surge data base.
- Monitors and track performance appraisals and provides regular status reporting to managers.
- Team approach to Human Resources Employee Recognition Programs, ie. Service Awards, Sister Edna Walter Applause Awards and Recognition Programs.
- Assists with special projects as required.
- Performs all functions in accordance with the mission statement, organizational philosophy and administration policies and procedures of St. Joseph's Villa.
- Other duties as required.

**Knowledge, Skills, and Experience**:

- Minimum 3 to 5 years’ experience in Human Resources, preferably in a unionized environment.
- Completion of a recognized post-diploma program in Human Resources
- CHRP designation or in progress of completion is preferred
- Experience in long-term care or health care an asset
- Ability to prioritize and adapt workload with continually changing priorities
- Initiative, high energy level, and the ability to co-ordinate a number of different activities running simultaneously, yet independently of one another with excellent problem-solving skills. Independent action, judgement and decision making.
- Attention to detail and processes with excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, and ability to lead and promote a positive team approach
- Computer fluency in Microsoft Office.
