**Indigenous Student Wellness Coordinator**:
The Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement works within and outside the university to meet the unique needs of Indigenous students, staff, faculty and communities and uplift Indigenization by advancing initiatives and strategies that promotes Indigenous Knowledges and supports reconciliation and decolonization.

**Primary Purpose**: The oyateki Partnership aspires to lead and facilitate transformation to change the lives of Indigenous youth for the better. This collaborative body is comprised of represents from the University of Saskatchewan (USask), Gabriel Dumont Institute and Saskatchewan Indian Institute of Technologies. The Indigenous Student Wellness Coordinator, Indigenous Engagement will respond to the needs of USask Indigenous students by working with the Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement (OVPIE), other USask staff across various portfolios, and oyateki Project partners. The Indigenous Student Wellness Coordinator works directly with students, instructors, programs and colleges from all University of Saskatchewan campuses to coordinate educational, personal, and community development programming for Indigenous students.

Nature of Work: As a member of the Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement team, the Indigenous Student Wellness Coordinator will report directly to the Senior Strategic Officer. This position is unique at the University of Saskatchewan in that the incumbent will have a professional home within the office of the **Office of the Vice Provost, Indigenous Engagement (OVPIE)**, and is directly connected to an exciting opportunity known as the oyateki Partnership. This role will focus on improving the health and wellness of Indigenous students at USask through culture and research informed programming, support and 1:1 check ins.

**Typical Duties or Accountabilities**:
Work in collaboration with OVPIE team members, USask stakeholders, and oyateki project partners to develop, implement, and evaluate initiatives in support of Indigenous student health and wellness. The coordinator will also support recruitment and outreach efforts and initiatives.
- Work closely with team members and stakeholders to identify, develop, and implement health and wellness programming that will enhance Indigenous student access, success, and quality of learning experiences.
- Research post-secondary student engagement, success, and support frameworks while conscious of the needs and strengths of Indigenous students.
- Seek and initiate outreach and recruitment opportunities to engage and inform potential students and communities.
- Collaborate, participate, and initiate opportunities within community partner events, celebrations, and ceremonies that promote health and wellness of Indigenous learners.
- Contribute to the preparation of reports, documents, and communications related to the oyateki Partnership.
- Assist students in addressing and navigating barriers to their success.
- Provide updates to the OVIPE team, the USask oyateki Leadership, and oyateki Partnership members.
- Other duties as required.

**Education**: Completion of post-secondary degree in a related field such as Social Work or Education, but a combination of education and direct experience will be considered.

**Skills**: Must have highly effective interpersonal skills and well-demonstrated problem solving and conflict resolution skills. Proven ability to work effectively within a team environment and independently; familiarity and experience with student-centered programming, support services, and student success. Ability to plan and deliver effective and outcomes-based programming that is responsive to the needs of Indigenous students; confidence to initiate and development meaningful and strategic partnerships with diverse stakeholders; effective written and verbal communication skills including the ability to present clearly to diverse audiences; group facilitation skills and one-on-one advising skills. The ability to understand the experiences of students and to interact effectively in a positive and empowering manner; ability to set priorities and follow through on accountabilities, and to maintain professional relationships and use discretion. Advanced skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook are required.
