**Career Educator, ScotiaRISE Indigenous Student Employment Readiness Program Lead**:
**Primary Purpose**:
*** Career Services empowers students to achieve career success by leading, guiding and partnering to advance career education at the University of Saskatchewan. The primary purpose of this position is to provide effective leadership and management of the ScotiaRISE Indigenous Student Employment Readiness Program (ISERP), and coordinate the related community engagement, education, and outreach activities that actively promote and support Indigenous grounded and inclusive career education practices. Additionally, the incumbent will contribute to advancing career education institutionally, exploring the needs of Indigenous students as well as units, departments, and groups; and developing and contributing to initiatives in all areas of Career Services, specifically those that advance Indigenous students’ career success.

This position reports to the Director of Career Services and has one direct report, a student Career Peer Educator. This position is based out of the Saskatoon campus and is eligible for hybrid work under the terms of USask’s Alternative Workspace Guidelines.

**Nature of Work**: The Career Educator advances ScotiaRISE ISERP and career education resources and programming in alignment with unit and institutional goals. A particular focus will be to increase Indigenous students' engagement within ScotiaRISE ISERP and Career Services, and to ensure Career Services continues to advance resources, practices and programming that support the unique career development needs of Indigenous students. The incumbent supports students and alumni in varying levels of career exploration and readiness, presenting with a variety of complex issues. The incumbent also establishes and maintains a high level of professional relationships amongst a wide stakeholder group, supports excellent collaboration and problem-solving, and establishes personal credibility both internal and external to the university. Overall, the work is complex, requiring focus, creativity, close attention to detail and quality of work, and high levels of sensitivity, professionalism, and judgment.

**Accountabilities**:
Student Outreach and Engagement
- Leads the ongoing development, implementation, and management of ScotiaRISE ISERP:

- Coordinates all aspects of program delivery including communications, curricula, recruitment, delivery, evaluation, and reporting
- Ensures Indigenous students’ interests, and needs are identified, and the necessary programming and student supports are implemented where appropriate
- Builds relationships and liaises with industry, community, and campus partners to ensure a common vision for the program and to enable successful implementation
- Collaborates with Career Services’ Career Educators to provide one-on-one support to empower students and alumni to prepare for and manage their career, develop competencies, find opportunities, and create connections.

Indigenous Grounded and Inclusive Career Education
- Leads the innovation and expansion of Indigenous grounded and inclusive partnerships, resources and initiatives that align with Career Services’ high-level outcomes, values, and strategic direction.
- Develops a strong practical and theoretical knowledge of Indigenous grounded and inclusive career development through research and collaborative conversations with key Indigenous stakeholders and communities, sharing expertise within Career Services and across the institution.

Community, Stakeholder, and Institutional Collaboration
- Ensures effective relationships are developed and maintained with industry, community (e.g., Elders, Traditional Knowledge Keepers, Indigenous organizations) and campus partners (e.g., faculty, college-based student service professionals, student groups).
- Consults and makes/accepts referrals with other student services units at the University of Saskatchewan (e.g., Student Wellness Centre, campus advisors, Gordon Oakes Red Bear Student Centre, Access and Equity Services).
- Participates in university-level working groups and committees as identified to be appropriate.

General
- Ensures that programming is aligned with and advancing intended student, unit, and institutional outcomes.
- Ensures that work is completed within established deadlines by defining goals, aligning resources, effectively setting work priorities, collaborating with others as needed, and assessing and reporting outcomes.
- Undertakes personal and professional development activities to advance expertise in Indigenous grounded and inclusive in career education practices, and to progress career development and coaching skills both from a theoretical and applied perspective.
