**The Role**
This challenging role will manage a 12-million-dollar inventory to specific turn targets. In achieving this, they will work with vendors to negotiate returns, auction houses for inventory liquidation, and customers and sales staff to sell off saleable goods.
The second piece will be to manage freight contracts and negotiate specialty shipments with our logistics supplier base.
**Duties and responsibilities**
- Negotiate freight contracts to achieve the best cost and service.
- Negotiate freight rates for large and specialty shipments.
- Hold logistics vendors accountable for performance and cost
- Manage and follow up freight claims
- Manage slow-moving and obsolete inventory
- Deal with vendor returns
- Inventory liquidation strategies
- Work with Management and Sales to create and direct sales initiatives for targeted inventory.
- Track and report results
- Purchasing responsibilities for assigned vendor lines.
- Maximize inventory turns on each product line.
- Set branch inventory levels in conjunction with corporate fill rate and inventory turn targets
- Other duties as assigned.
- Five years of experience in purchasing/inventory management
- Five years of experience within a multi-branch distribution network.
- Five years’ Logistics/Freight experience.
- Experience in dealing with overseas procurement and associated freight and government agencies
- Experience in hotshot and air freight
- Proficient in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must be able to demonstrate a track record of inventory KPI improvements.
- A skilled negotiator
- Strong financial acumen
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $70,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
