**Summary**
Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Financial Accounting Manager is responsible for delivering accurate and timely financial reporting for the principal operating business. The Financial Accounting Manager will be a key member of the Finance management team and is expected to lead the execution of financial reporting improvement initiatives in line with the wider Finance transformation initiative.
**Responsibilities**
- Prepare timely and accurate financial statements in accordance with ASPE.
- Prepare monthly management reports for senior management.
- Manage month-end and year-end close processes to ensure timely and accurate financial reporting.
- Perform variance analysis and trend analysis to identify areas for improvement.
- Identify savings opportunities and make recommendations for cost savings.
- Review reconciliations, journal entries and other working papers prepared by the accounting team.
- Continuously improve financial processes and procedures to increase efficiency, accuracy and improve internal control processes.
- Manage year-end review queries and information requests for the principal operating business.
- Ensure all government and regulatory compliance returns are submitted in a timely manner.
- Standardize accounting policies and procedures.
- Coach and mentor accountants to ensure high quality work and professional development.

**Required Skills**:
- A minimum of 8 years financial accounting experience including at least 3 years in a manager role
- CPA (CA, CGA, CMA) Designation
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, with an emphasis on Excel and Powerpoint
- Strong working knowledge of ASPE or IFRS standards
- Excellent communication skills, both spoken and written
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience with ERP implementation
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines
- Conflict resolution skills
- Identify, assess and manage risks while meeting objectives
- Experience in a retail environment is an asset
- Experience with Big 4 accounting firm is an asset
