**Objectives**:
- To generate intergenerational well-being and prosperity by systematically addressing the barriers Indigenous, female-led households face when trying to enter the workforce.
- To improve access to education and employment opportunities for Indigenous females with child(ren) in their care.
- Engage Indigenous females and their children as well as local stakeholders to:
- Increase participants' educational attainment and employability;
- Reduce barriers to economic, social, and cultural inclusion by ensuring all participants have access to housing, childcare, and transportation;
- Improve well-being through regular case management, peer mentorship, and peer counselling;
- Enhance local collaboration, partnerships, and capacity to work with Indigenous families (in the broader service and employment sector);
- Target and fulfill local labour market opportunities;
- Increase gainful employment opportunities for Indigenous women.
**Responsibilities**:
The UIHB Stabilization & Transition Coordinator is responsible for promoting the program within the Indigenous community and inform identified local community stakeholders. The coordinator will support the further development of community partners, including the establishment of
an Advisory Council to help guide the program design and implementation.
The Coordinator shall be primarily responsible for phase 0, 1 and 4 of the
UIHB program. Phase 0 consists of
supporting participants in meeting their basic needs (housing, childcare, etc), identification of post-secondary program and relevant NFC program support; phase 1 consists of supporting participants through the use of action plans to build life-skill capacity and transition into post-secondary education; Phase 4 consists of supporting participants transition into the workforce and out of the UIHB program.
**Qualifications**
- A combination of education and work-related experience will be considered
- Education in relevant post-secondary program (i.e. Social
- Service)
- Minimum of 2 years work experience in the community and/or social services or
acceptable combination of the above is an asset
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the social and economic challenges being faced by individuals living in poverty, especially sole parents
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with a strong understanding of the impacts of trauma
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to create and maintain trusting relationships with vulnerable Indigenous women and men
- Strong knowledge and understanding of the post-secondary education system
- Experience organizing events/meetings, facilitating meetings/focus groups, and working with other agency stakeholders
- Experience in building and maintaining positive working relationships with local organizations/institutions to foster collaborative and coordinated approaches to achieving program objectives
- Ability to work within the established policies and procedures of the NFC organization with the ability to work independently and as a team player, with mínimal supervision
- Must have a valid driver’s license, a reliable vehicle and be willing to travel when required
- Must possess current First Aid / CPR certification or be willing to be certified
- Indigenous heritage a preference (ref: Aboriginal Employment Preference Policy)
- A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer.
**Benefits**:Health care spending account, 2 weeks paid vacation, 10 days of paid sick time, and 5 Mental Health days
Hours: Monday-Friday, with the availability to work evenings and weekends as needed
**Salary**: $ 48,000.00 annually (with a 3-month probation)

Schedule: 8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday with evenings and weekends as needed
