Apatisiwin Program Coordinator

**Objectives**:
To provide employment and training interventions and other activities that will improve education and employment outcomes for urban Indigenous people.
**Responsibilities**:
The Apatisiwin Program Coordinator will ensure all aspects of the Apatisiwin program are planned, coordinated, delivered, maintained, and evaluated. In addition, will practice and role model cultural competency and cultural safety using a trauma-informed wholistic approach within the broader community.
**The Apatisiwin Program Coordinator will**:
- Provide job preparation interventions as follows: Application Processing, Employer Referrals, Job Search, Referrals to Agencies, Resume/Cover Letter Assistance
- Determine service user funding eligibility and create agreements
- Provide funded interventions as follow: On-the-Job Training, Purchase of Training, Employment Supports, Apprenticeship Skills Training, Training Supports, Pre-Employment, Community Building & Partnerships, Self-Employment Training, Stay in School Initiative and Summer Jobs (both youth service users only), and Pre-Career Development
- Provide employment supports and case management processes, which include follow-up, monitoring, and reporting of outcomes required
- Promote awareness and ensure access to the program through a variety of outreach efforts and promotional activities
- Network and partner with other Indigenous organizations, employers, unions, trades companies, employment agencies, etc., related to employment and training matters
- Develop and facilitate workshops and presentations on employment related topics
- Maintain familiarity with labor market developments to align service users with demand driven industries, explore and establish new opportunities for job placement and/or job creation, and actively seek out partnerships to leverage resources
- Maintain complete, accurate and up-to-date service user files, program records and activity data ensuring the maintenance of a secure and confidential filing system
**Qualifications**:
- 2 years post-secondary education in Indigenous studies, social work, or related field
- Minimum 3 years of demonstrated and related work experience with employment & training
- Other combinations of education and experience will be considered
- Strong knowledge and awareness of Indigenous culture and history, with a strong understanding of the impacts of trauma
- Understanding of the Indigenous Skills and Employment Training Program (ISETP)
- Knowledge of budgeting, WSIB, Employer/Employee rights
- Outstanding communication, analytical, problem-solving, and trouble-shooting skills
- Ability to work within NFC’s established policies and procedures, and the ability to work independently and as a part of a team with mínimal supervision
- Possess current First Aid / CPR certification or be willing to be certified
- A satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CPIC) with a Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) will be a condition of the employment offer.
**Salary**: $45,900.00 - $56,100.00 (with a 3-month probation)
**Benefits**: Health care spending account, 2 weeks paid vacation, 10 days of paid sick time, 5 paid wellness days, holiday closures.
**Schedule**:8:30-4:30 Monday to Friday with evenings and weekends as needed
