**Shine On**: Lead with Compassion as the Director of Inclusion at YMCA of Oakville Summer Camp
We are looking for a compassionate and experienced Director of Inclusion to join our Camp team. In this leadership role, you’ll oversee our inclusion support camp program, ensuring that every participant, regardless of ability or background, has the opportunity to succeed and thrive. You’ll lead a team of 1:1 inclusion staff, creating an inclusive, supportive, and empowering environment for all individuals involved.
**Location**: YMCA of Oakville, 410 Rebecca Street, Oakville (with travel to all camp locations)
**Work Schedule**:

- Part-time, approximately 5-15 hours/month starting May 19th, 2025
- Seasonal, full-time hours (40 hrs/week) from June 2nd - August 29th, 2025; Monday - Friday between 8 AM - 5 PM

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Lead and Manage Inclusion Services: Oversee the planning, implementation, and execution of all inclusion camp programs, ensuring that each individual receives appropriate support tailored to their needs.
- 1:1 Support Coordination: Supervise and support a team of 1:1 inclusion staff, ensuring they are well-trained, supported, and equipped to provide individualized support to participants.
- Staff Training and Development: Lead the development and delivery of staff training on inclusion best practices, disability awareness, and behavior management strategies. Offer ongoing mentorship and professional development opportunities to inclusion staff.
- Collaboration and Communication: Work closely with site directors, counselors, and other staff members to ensure seamless integration of inclusion strategies across all camp locations. Maintain open, regular communication with families, caregivers, and external stakeholders regarding inclusion needs and accommodations.
- Behavioral Support: Provide guidance and oversight in implementing behavioral support strategies for participants. Ensure 1:1 staff are equipped to address challenges proactively and respectfully.

**Requirements**:

- Previous experience in camp leadership, management, or related roles (e.g., Camp Counselor, Assistant Director, etc.)
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
- Experience in planning and coordinating activities and schedules
- Strong organizational skills, especially in equipment management and camp logistics
- Standard First Aid and CPR C certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Valid Vulnerable Sector screening police check prior to the start of camp
- Ability to foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive camp culture
- Enthusiasm for working with children and leading a team
- Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances
- Must have a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle

**Other Preferred Requirements**:

- Experience working with children or adults with various disabilities, including intellectual, developmental, and physical disabilities
- Certification or training in behavior management or other specialized inclusion programs

**Working Conditions & Settings**:

- Physical activity involving movement (e.g., lifting, pulling, pushing up to 50 lbs)
- Regular travel to various camp locations and external meetings
- Exposure to stressful situations, including potential conflicts or emotionally charged moments
- Ability to work after hours or as needed to meet deadlines and address urgent situations
- Active camp locations, including both indoor and outdoor spaces
- Ability to accompany participants in the pool and participate in water activities
- Willingness to travel or take the bus with participants on off-site trips, ensuring their safety and enjoyment
