Camps Inclusion Support Worker

**Job Details**: Part-Time (Non-Union T) **Posting Status**: Open to all current Town of Oakville employees and external applicants **Closing Date**: Applications for this position must be received at oakville.ca by 11:59 pm on **January 21, 2024.** **Basic Function**: - Reporting to the on-site Senior Leader, the Inclusion Support Workers will assist the on-site Camp Coordinator and full-time staff in the inclusion, support and supervision of campers with disabilities during delivery of camp programs including facilitating programs for teenagers with exceptionalities. **Responsibilities**: - Provide inclusion support to participants with exceptionalities, ensuring that activities are safe, fun, inclusive and appropriate. - Assist in preparing and leading an inclusive program to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program. - Work with parents/guardians and other camp staff to develop appropriate behaviour modification plans as required. - Support the objectives and philosophies of the program as established by the Recreation and Culture department. - Adhere to department prescribed policies and procedures. - Support and promote the HIGH FIVE "Principles of Healthy Child Development" (PHCD). - Follow and implement all Health and Safety regulations and public health guidelines. **Specific Duties**: - Attend all mandatory staff functions from May-September 2025 including but not limited to: training, scheduled shifts, staff meetings and site clean-ups and all allocated program times. - Arrive at the program site in time to properly prepare for the day's program and start the program according to schedule - Ensure the continuing safety of the participant while at the program. With the assistance of the on-site Senior Leader, advise and document all accidents/incidents immediately. - Creates an environment that fosters a positive and inclusive program experience. - Acts as a positive role model for program participants and other team members. - Report and document all health and safety related incidents as per guidelines and report to Senior Leader and/or full-time staff immediately. - Ensure the daily activities are safe, inclusive, creative, age-appropriate and enjoyable for the program participants, while ensuring an integrated setting. - Provide personal care and lifts / transfers for participants as required. - React to emergency situations and behaviour management issues in accordance to department approved procedures. - Maintain accurate records (ie: medical and communication logs) for all participants registered in the program. - Notify the Senior Leader and/or Summer Camp Coordinator of any problems and/or recommendations regarding participants, parents/guardians, co-workers or facilities which may affect the quality of the summer operations. - Assist with planning, leading and participating in program-specific special events. - Participate in a daily meeting with the on-site Senior Leader and program staff. - Other duties that may be assigned by the Senior Leader, Camp Coordinator and /or Full-Time staff. **Qualifications**: - Current (within 3 years of the date of issue) Standard First Aid with CPR C Certificate from a WSIB approved agency. - Crisis Prevention intervention (CPI) is considered an asset - Behaviour Management Systems Training (BMS) must be obtained within 30 days of employment. - Must be a minimum of 16 years of age or older by May 22, 2025. - HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) Certification (see below for more information). - Produce a satisfactory Criminal Reference Check (CRC) including vulnerable sector screening, dated within 30 days of hire. - Employment or volunteer experience with children ages 4-12 (ie: school monitor, reading buddy, assistant instructor etc.) is considered an asset. - Camp specific experience is considered an asset. - Strong problem solving and effective program planning skills. - Previous work experience with children with disabilities, experience with one on one support (feeding, changing, toileting, etc.) and behaviour management is an asset. - Knowledge of program adaptations and behaviour modification techniques. **Ability to work independently and in a team environment.** **Types of Support Offerings** - 1:1 support for children aged 4-12 - 1:4 support for teens aged 13-21 - Group behavioural support **HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD Certification) Information**: WSIB Ontario has an approved list of first aid providers HERE. **DATED**:November 4, 2024 **We thank all applicants and advise that only those selected for an interview will be contacted.
