We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented StreetWorks Lived Experience Harm Reduction Worker to join our team on a temporary contract. This role provides direct support services within the framework of the StreetWorks program. The harm reduction program aims to reduce the transmission of HIV and other blood-borne infections among people who use drugs, to engage clients and support them into testing and treatment services, and to provide individuals with harm reduction education and supplies.

Key Responsibilities:

- StreetWorks Program Harm Reduction Services
- Distribute harm reduction materials and information, including syringes and inhalation equipment, as per public health regulations and protocols
- Train individuals at risk of an opioid overdose on how to recognise and response to an overdose using naloxone
- Provide verbal and written messages on HIV/AIDS, HCV, STBBI risk reduction
- Keep program spaces organized and ensure stock remains at a consistent level
- Accept and put away deliveries of program supplies
- Outreach & Referrals
- Promote StreetWorks programs and link clients to social services and community supports
- Provide occasional evening outreach services
- Group Facilitation
- Support or lead small group activities, such as community clean ups and kit making.
- Documentation & Reporting
- Recording client interactions, referrals, supply distribution
- Complete naloxone distribution logs, incident reports
- Contribute to date collection and reporting for program evaluation and funding requirements
- Teamwork & Organizational Involvement
- Work collaboratively with system navigators, outreach staff, and other agency programs to provide integrated support.
- Participate in team meetings, staff training, and professional development opportunities
- Represent the agency’s mission, vision, and harm reduction philosophy at all times.

Qualifications:

- Self-identify as an individual with lived or living experience of substance use (required).
- Previous involvement in peer support, outreach, or harm reduction work (asset).
- Training in overdose response, naloxone administration, or peer engagement (preferred, can be provided).
- CPR/First Aid certification (preferred).
- Knowledge of community resources
- Ability to engage with individuals with compassion, respect and non-judgement
- Skills in de-escalation, crisis response and advocacy
- Comfortable with using computer software and databases
- French language skills considered an asset
- Satisfactory police records check (may include vulnerable sector check)
