**Consumption and Treatment Services Worker - On-Call Positions**

**Available**

Positive Living Niagara operates the StreetWorks harm reduction program. The StreetWorks program operates Consumption and Treatment Services (CTS) in St. Catharines. The service provides a safe and supportive environment for people to use pre-obtained drugs under supervision seven days a week. In addition to supervised consumption, individuals are provided with sterile injection supplies, education on safer injection, overdose prevention and intervention, counselling services, and system navigation support.

**Responsibilities**:

- To adhere to the Mission Statement, Policies and Procedures of Positive Living Niagara.
- To represent Positive Living Niagara in a professional manner
- To promote teamwork both within Positive Living Niagara and when working with partner agencies.
- To enhance, augment, expedite and support the positive flow of communications.
- To assist with the coordination and delivery of all Positive Living Niagara Programs when necessary.
- Participate in staff and professional development events as required.

**Duties**:

- Conduct intake to the service, support clients in stages of consumption, and post
- consumption
- Establish rapport with clients
- Assess level of knowledge and understanding of potential harms related to substance use
- Provide harm reduction education and supplies
- Monitor for signs of drug overdose
- Intervene in emergency situations
- Provide Naloxone training, refills and complete necessary documentation and debriefing with clients
- Provide supportive counselling, information and referrals to clients where appropriate
- Fulfill reporting requirements
- Assist with outreach walks and community education
- Other duties as assigned

**Qualifications**

A college or university degree in social or health services with experience in addictions and mental health in the community social services sector, ideally within a harm reduction environment. The incumbent will hold a valid driver’s license with a clear driving record a have access to a reliable vehicle. Experience living with or supporting someone with HIV/AIDS and/or substance use. Lived experience is an asset.

**Required Skills**:

- Ability to work with marginalized individuals including active substance users and people with concurrent disorders
- Demonstrated ability to work under pressure
- Capable of working independently with mínimal direction
- Ability to multi-task, problem solve, take initiative, anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take appropriate actions
- Must be able to organize and prioritize work and to meet the needs of the client.
- Meet changing service trends and client needs
- French language skills are an asset
