Tournaments Manager

**Job Summary**
The primary objective of the **Tournaments Manager **is to oversee all tournaments at CSMI managed facilities (currently the Bell Sensplex, Cavanagh Sensplex & Richcraft Sensplex), including all tournaments operated under the banner of Sensplex Tournaments. The Tournament Manager will be responsible for coaching and managing a team of full-time and part-time team members, with the ultimate responsibility of delivering world-class experiences to the participants in all CSMI-run events, and outstanding customer service to all clients, while achieving targeted enrollment and financial goals.
**Main Responsibilities**
- Hire, train, coach & manage a team of world-class full-time & part-time programming staff
- Supervise, prepare and assist with the execution of Marketing plans for CSMI tournaments, leagues, and other programs
- Prepare high quality, thoughtful tournament and league schedules on a regular basis with impeccable attention to details and a “whatever it takes” approach to releasing on-time for our clients.
- Conduct formal & informal coaching sessions with full-time team members, while constantly reinforcing a culture where superior performance and skill growth are valued and rewarded.
- Manage events to achieve all enrollment and financial targets.
- Prepare and manage Tournament division budgets and reconcile all revenues and expenses periodically throughout the year and during the CSMI budgeting process.
- Serve on interdepartmental committees such as (but not limited to) Occupational Health & Safety, Guest Experience, and Emergency Preparedness.
- Oversee and lead training & development sessions for full and part-time staff
- Management of relationships with participants and/or parents, partners, sponsors and suppliers on a regular basis and as specific issues arise, in a professional and positive manner.
- Manage the content of CSMI event-related websites and social media platforms in a timely fashion
- Create and oversee the execution of training sessions for part-time event staff
- Responsible for the creation of event schedules
- Create and sell sponsorship packages for CSMI programs (including leagues, clinics camps, tournaments & other programs)
- Conduct regular meetings with direct reports and other staff as required.
- Responsible for the semi-annual performance review process of direct reports
- Conduct formal & informal surveys of program participants and use data towards constant improvement of CSMI events
- Responsible for following policies & procedures set out by the Director, Hockey Programs, CSMI and the Senators Sports & Entertainment group of companies and for ensuring all Programs Dept. staff do the same.

**Health & Safety Responsibilities and Accountabilities**
Responsible for ensuring that all areas covered by Occupational Health & Safety Act (“OHSA”) are adhered to, specifically:
- Working in compliance with the provisions of the OHSA, regulations and internal policies and procedures
- Using or wearing protective equipment, devises or clothing when required
- Reporting any missing or defective equipment or protective device which could endanger himself or herself or another team member
- Reporting any contravention of the OHSA, regulations or Senators Sports & Entertainment policies and procedures
**Training**
Responsible for completing on-line training modules as required and for ensuring all reports do the same, including, but not limited to:
- Accessibility for Ontarians with Disability (AODA), Customer Service Standards
- AODA, the Integrated Accessibility Standards
- Back & Lifting Safety
- Ontario Supervisor Health & Safety Awareness
- Ontario Worker Health & Safety Awareness
- Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS)
- WHMIS 2015 (GHS)
- Violence and Harassment in the Workplace
May also be required to attend on-site training sessions as scheduled (eg. customer service).

- Outgoing and positive personality capable of forming relationships with staff and clients quickly and effectively

- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- University degree or college diploma in sports, business or communications related field
- Must be fully knowledgeable with the rules of hockey (experience as a hockey player and/or hockey coach required) and have a general understanding of all factors which influence the successful operation of quality leagues and tournaments
- Financial/Budgeting experience and/or education
- Significant customer service experience
